This paper focuses on introducing an overview of aerobic granular sludge technology, granulation, removal efficiency and application of aerobic granules in wastewater treatment. Aerobic granular sludge has a bacterial layered structure including anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic bacteria in order from inside to outside layer, so it is capable of simultaneous chemical oxygen demand, nitrogen and phosphorus removal.

In this study, the efficiency of wastewater treatment by synthetic CPAM and commercial CPAM C4008 was analyzed by indicators of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), and turbidity. The surface structure of the obtained sludge was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The objectives of this study were to prove the control of the lake water quality in terms of turbidity, total suspended solid (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and number of the algal cells by using the Riplox-based chemical complex (including (Ca(NO3)2) and (FeCl3) at concentrations ranging from 5 mM to 50 mM, with the presence of CuSO4 4 mg/L), considering the effects of the chemical fraction, the chemical concentration, and the treatment time.

Water quality indicated by chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, and total phosphorus from the effluent complied with the widely accepted limits on domestic wastewater discharge. In this study, a co-digestion pilot scale study of a mixture of domestic wastewater and the organic fraction of food waste using an anaerobic membrane bioreactor was developed. The results show that the removal efficiencies of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) were high and reached more than 90%.

In this study, pellets of iron alumina pillared bentonite (PFeAPB) were prepared by dispersing iron ions on alumina pillared bentonite pellet. Catalyst activity and lifetime were investigated via efficiencies of Methyl Orange (MO) decolorization and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) removal, a typical dye type of textile wastewater. Characteristics of the PFeAPB catalyst were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area, and X-ray fluorescence (XRF).

Water Quality Index (WQI) is a single dimensional number that aggregates information from many water quality parameters according to a defined method. WQI is accepted as an efficient tool for water quality management. In this study, WQI of Saigon river for public water supply was calculated from nine water quality parameters including pH, suspended solids (SS), dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD), nitrite, ammonia, phosphate, total dissolved iron and total coliform based on water quality data obtained monthly from January 2016 to December 2019 at three sampling sites.

Constructed wetlands (CWs) have been used to treat various types of wastewaters such as urban runoff, acid mine drainage, municipal, industrial, and livestock wastewaters. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of two constructed wetlands (surface and horizontal subsurface flows) for piggery wastewater treatment after biogas process. The wetland plant Phragmites australis Cav. was used in two CWs. The flow rate of the CWs was 100 liters/day with the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 3 days.

Immersion of painted idols and addition of organic wastes in the lake water, as a part of religious activities, is a common religious practice in India. These activities add to the contamination of water with alkali, alkaline earth metals and heavy metals and therefore, degrade water quality and limit conservation of good quality water in the lakes.
