In this study, the effect of angle and length of copper made slope plate on the microstructure of A360-Aluminum alloy is investigated. Microstructure study of metallographic samples in different conditions revealed that for 400mm slope length and 60° slope angle the optimum sphierized and homogenized microstructure is achieved.

The present study was conducted with the objectives to assess the circulating plasma progesterone concentrations in early pregnant cows and in those who suffered embryonic mortality. From the entire herd, a total of 142 (Sahiwal 29 and Hardhenu 113) cows were selected for the study. Out of 142 animals, only 53 animals exhibited non-return to estrus and rest showed estrus signs and behaviour before day 28 post-insemination.

Penaeidins are a family of antimicrobial peptides constitutively produced and stored in the haemocytes of penaeid shrimp. In response to microbial stimulation, they are released into the blood circulation and they further attach to shrimp cuticle surfaces through a chitin-binding property. In the present paper, we have analysed their expression, regulation and distribution in shrimp tissues in response to experimental microbial challenge.

The structure of post-translational modifications of human heparin cofactor II isolated from human serum and from recombinant Chinese hamster ovary cells and their effects on heparin binding have been characterized. Oligosaccharide chains were found attached to all three potential N-glycosylation sites in both protein preparations. The carbohydrate structures of heparin cofactor II circulating in blood are complex-type diantennary and triantennary chains in a ratio of 6 : 1 with the galactose being 90% sialylated with a2 fi 6 linked N-acetylneuraminic acid....

There are at least three well-defined signalling cascades engaged directly in the physiological regulation of cardiac circulatory function: theb1-adrenoceptors that control the cardiac contractile apparatus, the renin-angiotensin-aldo-sterone system involved in regulating bloodpressure and the natriuretic peptides contributing at least to the factors determining circulating volume.

Triacylglycerols secreted by liver and carried by very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) are hydrolysed in circulation by lipoprotein and hepatic lipases. These enzymes have been shown to have positional and fatty acid specificityin vitro. If there were specificity in basal lipolysisin vivo, triacylglycerol compositionsofcirculatingandnewlysecretedVLDLwould be different. To study this we compared the composition of normal fasting VLDL triacylglycerol of Wistar rats to that obtained after blocking lipolysis by Triton WR1339, which increasedplasmaVLDL triacylglycerol concentrationabout 4.

Macrophages at an inflammatory site release massive amounts of proteolytic enzymes, including lysosomal cys-teine proteases, which colocalizewith their circulating, tight-binding inhibitors (cystatins, kininogens), so modifying the protease/antiprotease equilibrium in favor of enhanced proteolysis. We have explored the ability of human cath-epsins B, KandL to participate in the production of kinins, using kininogens and synthetic peptides that mimic the insertion sites of bradykinin on human kininogens....

Corynebacterium ammoniagenesis an overproducer of xanthosine-5¢-monophosphate (XMP) by consuming either glcose (glc) or glutamic acid (glu). Its energymetabolismwas studiedin vivousing 31 P NMR spectroscopy coupled with a circulating fermentation system (CFS). CFS enabled us to validate directly the cellular dependency on carbon sources and changes in biomolecules produced according to altera-tions in the cellular energetic status.

Retinol-binding protein transports retinol, and circulates in the plasma as a macromolecular complex with the protein transthyretin. Under acidic con-ditions retinol-binding protein undergoes a transition to the molten globule state, and releases the bound retinol ligand. A biased molecular dynamics simulation method has been used to generate models for the ensemble of conformers populated within this molten globule state.

Prohibitin (PHB-1) is a highly conserved protein involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and function. It is secreted in lipid droplets from adipocytes and is present in the circulation. In adipose tissue it functions as a membrane receptor and can target binding partners to the mitochondria.

Cleavage of the small amyloidogenic proteinb2-microglobulin after lysine-58 renders it more prone to unfolding and aggregation. This is important for dialysis-related b2 -microglobulin amyloidosis, since elevated levels of cleaved b2-microglobulin may be found in the circulation of dialysis patients.

The recruitment of leukocytes from the circulation into tissues requires leu-kocyte migration through the vascular endothelium. The mechanisms by which leukocytes attach and firmly adhere to the endothelial cell surface have been studied in detail. However, much less is known about the last step in this process, the diapedesis of leukocytes through the vascular endo-thelium.

Plasma concentrations of free fatty acids are increased in metabolic syn-drome, and the increased fatty acids may cause cellular damage via the induction of oxidative stress. The present study was designed to determine whether the increase in fatty acids can modify the free sulfhydryl group in position 34 of albumin (Cys34) and enhance the redox-cycling activity of the copper–albumin complex in high-fat diet-induced obese mice.
