Coffee value chain

This study focuses on how the coffee business trend in the third wave era can be enhanced through preference and value creation based on Global Supply Chain and consumer preference as theoretical background. This study utilizes non-probability sampling and there 97 coffee shop owners were participated. The result of this study showed that value creation has a significant effect on the Global Supply Chain, value creation has no significant effect on preference.

In the study "Adopting new technology in coffee plantation: The role of knowledge sharing in supply chain management", the application of Computer Vision will be tested to facilitate a sorting process, a computer system with the help of a camera will introduce a type of coffee recognition system to Robusta and Arabica, this system is able to read the number of defects that exist in coffee, this system is able to be implemented and has more accuracy of 90%.

The research also comes up with the conclusion about the high potential value added stage that Vietnam should move towards to affirm Vietnam’s coffee position and charisma in the world market. In order to achieve this goal, Vietnam coffee sector should concentrate on improving the quality of coffee instead of running after the coffee export volume and emphasize the importance of brand building and further investing in processing stage.

Such a disruptive technology as the blockchain platform has a potential to provide value-added contributions towards multiple-disciplinary applications these days. Blockchain technology, considered as the second generation of the Internet in the digital age, has been applied in practice for various industry such as finance, healthcare, tourism, retailing, manufacturing, education, public sector, supply chains management, agri-food industry and so on. In which, supply chain operations, particularly agri-food management, becomes a prosperous beneficiary from blockchain technology.

This study provides some initial review of demand and directions for innovation in coffee value chain (coffee enterprises and farmers in the enterprises’ value chain), the manner of interactive learning to enhance innovation capacity.
