Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the finger or toe nail caused by various fungal agents like dermatophytes, non dermatophytes moulds and yeasts. It is necessary to diagnose the infection with proper laboratory evidences before treating them with antifungal drugs, which require prolonged duration of treatment and may have adverse side effects. This study involves comparison of standard laboratory tests in the diagnosis of onychomycosis, namely, potassium hydroxide mount (KOH mount), Calcofluor white staining and fungal culture of the nail clippings.

Increasing drug resistance due to the production of AmpC β-lactamases and Extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) is an increasing cause of concern as it has left the clinicians with limited therapeutic options. Aims were detection of AmpC β lactamase in E. coli an comparison of the two phenotypic tests- AmpC disk test and Inhibitor based test using phenyl boronic acid. A total of 156 E. coli isolates from various clinical samples were collected for the study.

To study the approach of immunohistochemistry (IHC) in comparison with study of pathomorphological alterations, for diagnosis of rabies, 50 brain samples from different animals like dog, cattle, buffalo and mongoose suspected for rabies were collected at post mortem hall. Out of the 50 animal brain samples tested, 30 (60%) were confirmed to be rabid by Fluorescent Antibody Technique (FAT). The 30 positive brain samples were subjected for comparison of histopathology and immunohistochemistry.

Comparison of the crystal structures of threeMicropechis ikahekaphos-pholipase A2 isoenzymes (MiPLA2, MiPLA3 and MiPLA4, which exhibit different levels of pharmacological effects) shows that their C-terminus (residues 110–124) is the most variable. M-Type receptor binding affinity of the isoenzymes has also been investigated and MiPLA4 binds to the rabbit M-type receptor with high affinity. Examination of surface charges of the isoenzymes reveals a trend of increase in positive charges with potency....

The crystal structures of thermophilic xylanases from Chaetomium thermophilumandNonomuraea flexuosawere determined at 1.75 and 2.1 A˚ resolution, respectively. Both enzymes have the overall fold typical to family 11 xylanases with two highly twistedb-sheets forminga large cleft. The comparison of 12 crystal structures of family 11 xylanases from both mesophilic and thermophilic organisms showed that the structures of different xylanases arevery similar.

Regression is one among the most used vital machine learning and statistical tool. Regression is a method of modeling a target value based on independent predictors. It allows making predictions from data by understanding the relationship between features of data and observed continuous-valued response. Support Vector Regression (SVR) is one of the useful and flexible techniques, helping the user to deal with the limitations pertaining to distributional properties of underlying variables, the geometry of the data and the common problem of model overfitting.

Cordyceps is a well-known traditional medicine to heal various serious diseases for centuries. Besides, polysaccharides isolated from Cordyceps had demonstrated to exhibit potential bioactivities, especially antioxidant activity. Hence, this study concentrated on the antioxidant effects of exopolysaccharides (EPS) isolated from ten kinds of Cordyceps cultured broth. Consequently, Cordyceps sinensis cultured broth possessed the highest EPS as well as total carbohydrate content, but the nearly lowest protein content (2.75 g/l, 69.39 % and 1.01 % respectively).

This study aims to evaluate the differences between PM2.5, PAHs concentration, PAHs species, and their gas/ particle partitioning in an urban background site as opposed to another background site. Saigon zoo was selected as a representative of the urban background site (UBS), and the Can Gio mangrove reserve was selected as the other background site (BS). PM2.5 and gas and particle-phase PAHs samples were collected at the UBS between March 2017 and February 2018, while the samples were collected at the BS for one week in the dry season (April) and in the rainy season (October).

In this report, the adsorption of Zn(II) ion on g- and a-MnO2 nanostructures was compared. The results showed that the maximum adsorption was obtained at pH = 4.0 for both materials and after 60 minutes for g-MnO2 and 80 minutes for a-MnO2 . Adsorption isotherm models demonstrated that the Langmuir was the best model to describe the adsorption of Zinc(II) on g- and a-MnO2 because of the highest correlation coefficient (R2 ), the smallest root mean square error (RMSE), and the nonlinear chi-squared test (c2 ) values.

Comparative study of two different laparotomy techniques and post surgical complications for ovariohysterectomy in cats were studied. The animals were randomly divided into two equal (n = 6) groups, A and B. In group A, ovariohysterectomy was performed by ventral midline approach, where as in group B, ovariohysterectomy was performed by flank approach. The duration of surgery, length of surgical incision, cost of surgery, complications peri and post-operatively were compared. In cats subjected to ovariohysterectomy through lateral flank approach had minimal hemorrhage at incisional site.
