Composite optimization problem

  • The authors propose a novel BCMO-DNN algorithm for vibration optimization of functionally graded porous microplates. The theory is based on a unified framework of higher-order shear deformation theory and modified strain gradient theory. A hybrid combination of deep learning neural network and balancing composite motion optimization is developed to solve the optimization problems and predict stochastic vibration behaviors of functionally graded porous microplates with uncertainties of material properties.

  • In this paper we establish necessary and sufficient condition for zero duality gap of the optimization problem involving the general perturbation mapping via characteringsetunder the convex setting. An application to the class of composite optimization problems will also be given to show that our general results can be applied to various classes of optimization problems.

  • In this paper, an improved version of Differential Evolution algorithm, called iDE, is introduced to solve design optimization problems of composite laminated beams. The beams used in this research are Timoshenko beam models computed based on analytical formula. The iDE is formed by modifying the mutation and the selection step of the original algorithm. Particularly, individuals involved in mutation were chosen by Roulette wheel selection via acceptant stochastic instead of the random selection.

  • This paper proposes an optimization procedure for maximization of the biaxial buckling load of laminated composite plates using the gradient-based interior-point optimization algorithm. The fiber orientation angle and the thickness of each lamina are considered as continuous design variables of the problem.

  • Whey, a by-product of cheese, paneer or casein production, is a high value byproduct of the dairy industry due to its nutritional composition and availability in large volumes. Owing to its high BOD (Biological oxygen demand) value and availability in surplus quantities, whey disposal is a serious problem from both an economical and an environmental point of view. Keeping these facts in view a study was conducted to assess the suitability of paneer whey as a growth medium of L. acidophilus for the production of inhibitory substances against E. coli, S.

  • The selection of optimal portfolios is the central problem of financial investment decisions. Mathematically speaking, portfolio selection refers to the formulation of an objective function that determines the weights of the portfolio invested in each asset as to maximize return and minimize risk. This paper applies the method of genetic algorithm (GA) to obtain an optimal portfolio selection. However, the GA parameters are of great importance in the procedure of convergence of this algorithm towards the optimal solution such as crossover.

  • India is recognized as a significant producer of orchids in the world. Nearly 1300 species of orchids are found in India which constitutes almost 10 percent of the world orchid flora with Himalayas as their main home (Medhi and Chakrabati, 2009). Orchids are amongst the most advanced flowering plants, highly specialized in many ways. They are distributed all over the world except the Antarctica (Ali and Mir, 2013).

  • The finite element model based on First Shear Displacement Theory to study the mechanical and electrical behaviors of cantilever laminated composite plate bonded piezoelectric patches on surface is presented. A nine-node isoparametric rectangular element with 5 degrees of freedom for the generalized displacements and 2 electrical degrees of freedom at each node is used. Optimization techniques based on genetic algorithm (GAs) are applied in order to maximize the piezoelectric actuator efficiency, improve the structural performance.

  • The principle known as 'free indexation' plays an important role in the determination of the referential properties of noun phrases in the principleand-parameters language framework. First, by investigating the combinatorics of free indexation, we show that the problem of enumerating all possible indexings requires exponential time. Secondly, we exhibit a provably optimal free indexation algorithm. In (1), the pronominal "him" can be interpreted as being coreferential with "John", or with some other person not named in (1), but not with "Bill". ...

  • SQL/LPP is a system that adds time-series extensions to SQL [Perng and Parker 1999]. SQL/LPP models time-series as attributed queues (queues aug- mented with attributes that are used to hold aggregate values and are updated uponmodifications to the queue). Each time-series is partitioned into segments that are stored in the database. The SQL/LPP optimizer uses pattern-length analysis to prune the search space and deduce properties of composite pat- terns from properties of the simple patterns.

  • Almost all protein database search methods use amino acid substitution matrices for scoring, optimizing, and assessing the statistical significance of sequence alignments. Much care and effort has therefore gone into con-structing substitution matrices, and the quality of search results can depend strongly upon the choice of the proper matrix. A long-standing problem has been the comparison of sequences with biased amino acid composi-tions, for which standard substitution matrices are not optimal....

  • This addresses the bandwidth problem, in a way: A web site owner will certainly service fewer RSS requests as end users start polling the central service instead. The operators of these central services will definitely have bandwidth issues of their own: they will now be at the center of all RSS traffic. There is a far more insidious danger inherent in this approach, however: a central point of control, failure, and censorship has now been established for all partici- pating users.

  • Layout problems arise in a number of domains and one common strategy is to use optimization techniques to find a layout that sat- isfies domain-specific criteria. Researchers have applied this op- timization approach to circuit board layout [Sarrafzadeh and Lee 1993], graph layout [Tollis et al. 1998], component layout in prod- uct design [Cagan et al. 2002], document layout [Jacobs et al. 2003; Hurst et al. 2009], UI layout [Lok and Feiner 2001; Gajos et al. 2010], label layout [Christensen et al. 1995; Vollick et al. 2007], and architectural floor plan layout [Merrell et al. 2010].
