We implement simulations for two policy scenarios to explore how Vietnamese trade and investment change following the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement (EVFTA), based on a computable general equilibrium model. Simulation results indicate that the bilateral trade between Vietnam and the EU grows substantially, and by a much greater amount than the growth of total exports and total imports for the two regions.

The present study deals with the review study of CGE model. The CGE model as general algebraic framework was developed from micro level economic fundamentals and used in the calibration of model through economic data in Social Accounting Matrix (SAM), to solve the equilibrium value of economic variables by forming numerical equations and for suggesting the policy framework by simulating major economic variables and observing its impact on the entire economic system.

The first simulation results demonstrate that the elimination of tariffs in the industrial sector will lead to a 9.13 percent increase in household consumption, together with an increase in the factors of production of the agricultural, industrial and service sectors by 9.61, 9.74 and 8.21 percent, respectively. Based on the Dynamic Computable General Equilibrium (DCGE), the paper aims at calculating and simulating the impacts of cuts in import duty as required by WTO rules on changes in Vietnam’s structure of industry in the long term. Simulation results show that labor-intensive industries will have chances to make the best use of their advantages for development while capital-intensive and highly protected industries will encounter difficulties.

In this paper, a computing method for the tendon slip based on the force equilibrium condition at deviators was proposed. The proposed method for the evaluation of tendon slip was presented in a general form by taking into account all possibilities of tendon slip at deviators, and several factors found to be important that affect the tendon slip, such as effects of the slippage at two adjacent deviators, friction, change of tendon angles during the applied load, etc.

China’s WTO accession will have major implications for China and present both opportunities and challenges for East Asia. We assess the possible channels through which China’s accession to the WTO could affect East Asia and quantify these effects using a dynamic computable general equilibrium model.
