Graduation thesis "A study on introductions in Vietnamese and American culture" will compare and contrast cross-cultural communication between Vietnamese and American cultures in introduction. As East and West cultures differ, there are interesting differences in their untroduction. The concept of coworking caters to freelancers and entrepreneurs who not only seek a shared office space but also be part of a socially bound group with similar ideas and goals. The aim of providing a space that fosters collaboration, sense of community, enhances creativity and sustains communication within a diverse group of independent professionals. Whilst the concept has flourished over the span of 10 years, little is known of the participants’ experiences within coworking spaces and whether such spaces do deliver what it promises.

This research found that local government, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas is the face of all government in the eyes of the residents. State and Federal Governments have high expectations and compliance regimes, but local government has limited capacity and resources to effectively meet these legitimate demands and also respond to the demands of the local residents and citizens. The lack of financial resources is exacerbated by limited human resource capacity, especially in the Glenelg Shire, the 5th worst local government area in the state in terms of education and occupation.

This article presents a contrastive analysis of conceptual metaphors (CMs) denoting the concept of “Life” in English and Vietnamese lyric songs. Based on the theoretical background of many linguists, especially Lakoff and Johnson (1980), Lee (2001), Kovêcses (2005, 2010), as well as the data collected from the questionnaire and interviews, the study investigates and explores the similarities and differences in CMs of “Life” between the two languages from the cognitive perspective.
