Thesis focus on the problem of “Excitonic condensation in semimetal – semiconductor transition systems” to investigate the nature of the excitonic condensation state in these models by using MF theory. Electronic correlation in the systems is described by the two-band model including electron – phonon interaction and the extended Falicov-Kimball model involving electron – phonon interaction.

This paper presents a new record of the fern genus Arachniodes Blume from Vietnam, Arachniodes simplicior. The paper provides a detailed description of the new species based on the traditional morphological method, of which micro morphological characters of spores were firstly described based on the specimens collected from Quang Binh (Minh Hoa district), Vietnam. In addition, type materials of A. simplicior were analyzed and a specimen from MAK (MAK012702) was designated as a lectotype.

In this work, an attempt to planarize 2,3,4,6- tetraarylthieno[3,2-b]thiophene based on the FeCl3 oxidative annulation was described. Thus, two cyclized 2,3,5,6-tetraarylthieno[3,2-b]thiophenes 5a and 5b were synthesized in moderate yields. NMR and HR-MS analysis indicated the annulation between only one pair of the phenyl substituents.

In this paper, we describe the application of CRO algorithm to search optimal parameters for PID controller because CRO combines both features of local and global searching techniques to increase the chance of finding global solution. The comparison of tuning PID controller by CRO and traditional Ziegler-Nichols method is also presented. The simulated results show the advantages of tuning PID using CRO compared to traditional methods in terms of performance indices and transient responses.

The fermentation of cassava which normally takes 3-4 days during village processing can be shortened to 24h by seeding a fresh pulp with cassava juice 4 days old. In the work described here, a further attempt has been made to elucidate the nature of biochemical reactions taking place during fermentation, and to establish the optimum conditions which could be utilised in a modern industry based on this process.

The human MUC4 gene encodes a large membrane-associated mucin, characterized by a mucin tandem repeat domain and a growth factor-like transmembrane domain. In addition to the originally published sequence (sv0-MUC4), several MUC4 cDNA sequences (called sv1-MUC4 to sv21MUC4, MUC4/X, MUC4/Y) from various tissues and cell lines have been recently described. They differ from sv0MUC4 by deletions and/or insertions located in the 3¢ region or, for two of them, by deletion of the central repetitive domain.

In spiders soluble proteins are converted to form insoluble silk fibres, stronger than steel. The final fibre product has longbeen the subject of study;however, little is knownabout the conversion process in the silk-producing gland of the spider. Here we describe a study of the conversion of the soluble form of the major spider-silk protein, spidroin, directly extracted from the silk gland, to ab-sheet enriched stateusing circular dichroism(CD) spectroscopy.

This work describes an online application that uses Natural Language Generation (NLG) methods to generate walking directions in combination with dynamic 2D visualisation. We make use of third party resources, which provide for a given query (geographic) routes and landmarks along the way. We present a statistical model that can be used for generating natural language directions. This model is trained on a corpus of walking directions annotated with POS, grammatical information, frame-semantics and markup for temporal structure. ...
