  • Finger millet (Eleusine coracana 2n = 4x = 36) is a hardy, nutraceutical, climate change tolerant, orphan crop that is consumed throughout eastern Africa and India. Its genome has been sequenced multiple times, but A and B subgenomes could not be separated because no published genome for E. indica existed.

  • Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is an important fruit crop in India and honored as king of fruit in the country. Among the several abiotic and biotic factors, mango malformation is the most serious disease causes up to 60 per cent yield losses and confines the mango cultivation in tropical and subtropical countries of the worldwide. Mango malformation expresses two types of symptoms on plant i.e. vegetative and floral malformation, in which floral malformation is very virulent and causes the loss of entire crop than the vegetative one.

  • The effect of fresh juice extract of Azadirachta indica on lipid profile and hepatic function of Plasmodium berghei infected albino mice were investigated. Thirty adult male mice were placed in five groups of six mice each, acclimatized for 7 days and used for the study. Group A was normal control and had free access to feed and water while groups B to E were infected with Plasmodium berghei, and confirmed of parasitamia on the third day. Groups C, D and E were further given standard anti malaria drug (5 mg/kg body weight of Artesunate), 4.3ml/kg and 8.

  • The global food and nutritional security of growing population is a great challenge. Mushrooms provide a rich addition to the diet in the form of protein (12-35%), carbohydrates (26-82%), valuable salts, minerals and phenols. They are also good source of vitamins especially those of B complex group but are relatively poor in fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E and K. Among B complex vitamins, mushrooms are especially rich in thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin and biotin. The present investigation is biochemical analysis through the modified methods in milky mushroom strains.

  • Management of crop diseases by biological control is an alternative and effective approach with minimum deleterious effect on environment and human health for ecosystem stability leading to improvement in crop yields. The present study was undertaken to characterize antagonistic rhizosphere bacteria against phytopathogenic fungi i.e., Neovossia indica and Rhizoctonia solani, which cause Karnal bunt and root rot disease, respectively. Twenty two rhizobacterial isolates out of total 88 isolates obtained from wheat rhizosphere, 25% isolates inhibited the growth of both R. solani and N.

  • Our previous publications and the data presented here provide evidences on the ability of plantbased culture media to optimize the cultivability of rhizobacteria and to support their recovery from plant-soil environments. Compared to the tested chemically-synthetic culture media (e.g. nutrient agar and N-deficient combined-carbon sources media), slurry homogenates, crude saps, juices and powders of cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) and succulent plants (Aloe vera and Aloe arborescens) were rich enough to support growth of rhizobacteria. Representative isolates of Enterobacter spp.
