The study "Common IELTS reading strategies used by ESL/EFL students" aims to explore different types of reading strategies which are commonly employed by IELTS candidates. The findings indicate that students frequently utilize underlining/highlighting, translation, prediction, rereading, skimming/scanning, question check, summarizing, word guessing, and keyword identification whereas note-taking methods, memory/social strategies, meaning guessing of advanced vocabulary, and grammatical features are not preferable.

Findings from those studies agree on a consensus that reading strategies possess a significant relationship with reading performance. In this article, the author has presented the basic information as well as the principles when assessing language and assessing writing skills. In this process, the teacher is mainly responsible for scoring and giving feedback – two activities that are considered the most time-consuming and labor-intensive, especially in large classes. From the above challenges and with my own experience as a writing teacher, the author has read research about automated writing systems to introduce to managers and colleagues for future use.
