To achieve the general aim, this research seeks out for the following specific objectives: Determining the meaningful effects of TBLT on the students’ improvement in listening ability; exploring how listening skills are taught in listening lessons at FPT High School; suggesting the recommendations for English curriculum designers and instructors/teachers to include useful tasks to students so as to improve their listening ability.

The third section illustrates the objectives of the study while the fourth presents the research questions. The chapter continues with the scope of the study followed by the significance of doing this research. It ends by presenting the thesis structure.

The present study investigates teachers‘ perceptions of the values of the CEFR, the perceived readiness and necessity of its application, and the work involved in its application process. Also, it explores teachers‘ responses to the use of the CEFR to renew the general English curriculum, reflected in how they changed their teaching activities, adapted the assigned textbooks and modified their assessment practice. The study was a case study applying the mixed method sequential explanatory model (Creswell & Clark, 2007).
