In paper "Mixture of Erlang and exponential approximation for ultimate ruin probability", we investigate the mixture of Erlang and exponential approximation based on the first three moments and the matrix-exponential representation of mixed Erlang and exponential functions. Besides, a number of numerical examples are given to illustrate the quick convergence of the method in the cases of the first three moments of uniform distribution on . Moreover to illustrate this method, a numerical example is given with different initial reserves of insurance company.

This paper is concerned with the problem of exponential stability of a class of positive nonlinear systems with heterogeneous time-varying delays which describe a model of Hopfield neural networks with nonlinear self-inhibition rates. Based on a novel comparison technique via a differential and integral inequalities, testable conditions are derived to ensure system state trajectories converge exponentially to a unique positive equilibrium.

The ultimate stability of nonlinear time-varying systems with multiple delays and bounded disturbances are investigated in this paper. Based on some comparison techniques via differential inequalities, explicit delay-independent conditions are derived for determining an ultimate bound such that all state trajectories of the system converge exponentially within that bound. The obtained results also guarantee exponential stability of the system when the input disturbance vector is ignored. Numerical simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

We present an analysis of bounded-energy low-tension maps between 2-spheres. By deriving sharp estimates for the ratio of length scales on which bubbles of opposite orientation develop, we show that we can establish a ‘quantization estimate’ which constrains the energy of the map to lie near to a discrete energy spectrum. One application is to the asymptotics of the harmonic map flow; we find uniform exponential convergence in time, in the case under consideration.

For bidirectional associate memory neural networks with time-varying delays, the problems of determining the exponential stability and estimating the exponential convergence rate are investigated by employing the Lyapunov functional method and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique. A novel criterion for the stability, which give information on the delay-dependent property, is derived.
