In this study, the nonlocal elasticity theory is applied to analyze the free vibration of the functionally graded nanobeams. The novelty of the present study is that the classical nonlocal elasticity theory has been modified to take into account the variation of the nonlocal parameters through the thickness of the functionally graded. nanobeams.

The study found that nematode composition differed significantly between the upper and deeper layers of sediment but not among the deeper layers. Nematode density showed spatial variability across layers, with higher values in the upper layer. Nematode diversity decreased with increasing depth. Non–selective deposit feeders (1B) were dominated in the surface layers, while the predator–omnivores feeders (2B) was numerous in the deeper layers

The tumour–stroma ratio (TSR) is identified as a promising prognostic parameter for breast cancer, but the cutof TSR value is mostly assessed by visual assessment, which lacks objective measurement. The aims of this study were to optimize the cutof TSR value, and evaluate its prognosis value in patients with breast cancer both as continuous and categorical variables.

This paper presents a hybrid approach for multiscale topology optimization of structures. The topological shape of both macro-structure and micro-structure are concurrently optimized, based on the solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP) technique in combination with finite element method (FEM).

This study investigates the static bending and free vibration behaviour of Multi-directional Functionally Graded plates having a variable thickness. With this regard, the third-order shear deformation plate theory is used to describe the kinematic relation. Material properties of MFGM are assumed to be graded in spatial direction within the plate’s volume and the effective material properties are calculated based on the power-law approach.

Fitness costs imposed on bacteria by antibiotic resistance mechanisms are believed to hamper their dissemination. The scale of these costs is highly variable. Some, including resistance of Staphylococcus aureus to the clinically important antibiotic mupirocin, have been reported as being cost-free, which suggests that there are few barriers preventing their global spread.

Free-range local chickens (FRLC) farming is an important activity in Tanzania, however, they have not been well-characterized. This study aimed to phenotypically characterize three Tanzanian FRLCs and to determine their population structure. A total of 389 mature breeder chickens (324 females and 65 males) from three popular Tanzanian FRLC ecotypes (Kuchi, Morogoro-medium and Ching’wekwe) were used for the phenotypic characterization.

This paper proposes a method to solve for closed-form analytical solutions of the free vibration problems of orthotropic rectangular thin plates with arbitrary homogeneous boundary conditions. This proposed method is called the extended separation-of-variable method, in which the mode functions are in a separation-of-variable form, and the frequencies in two spatial directions are mathematically independent of each other.

The thermodynamics involving the dielectric constant and Gibb's free energy of oxide formation at the Al/TiOx and TiOx/TiOy interfaces play a pivotal role in the associated switching mechanism. The spatial variability of the operating voltage across these devices is found to be as low as 8%. These findings pave the way for low power, low cost, and high density data storage applications.

Avian poxviruses are important pathogens of both wild and domestic birds. To date, seven isolates from subclades A and B and one from proposed subclade E, have had their genomes completely sequenced. The genomes of these isolates have been shown to exhibit typical poxvirus genome characteristics with conserved central regions and more variable terminal regions. Infection with avian poxviruses (APVs) has been reported in three species of captive flamingo, as well as a free-living, lesser flamingo at Kamfers dam, near Kimberley, South Africa.

In the present study, it is clear that it is possible to develop high yielding lines with high quality traits with superior nutritional features. The parameters have indicated sufficient variability for different nutritional characters, so that it would enable the breeder to utilize appropriate genetic resources in the crossing programme to improve the particular character.

In addition, the displacement field of THSDT needs the high continuity in approximated formulation with high-order derivatives for a weak form of fourth order equation. According to IGA formulation based on the generalized THSDT, the shear locking phenomenon is free. The variables of THSDT are less than HSDTs which contain five DOFs per node. The influences of weight fractions, the coefficient porosity, dispersion patterns of GPLs and distribution types of porosity on structure’s natural frequencies are studied through some numerical examples.

In this paper, a two-dimensional functionally graded sandwich (2D-FGSW) beam model formed from three constituent materials is proposed and its free vibration analysis is carried out for the first time. The beam consists of three layers, a homogeneous core and two skin layers of 2D-FGM. The material properties of the skin layers are considered to vary in both the thickness and longitudinal directions by power gradation laws.

The Knowledge of spatial-variability is critical for site specific nutrient management in soil fertility. Soil sample (149) were gotten from surface from 10 selected sites for preparing precise digital maps using point, line and polygon tools of the GIS (TNTmips 2010) software. Soil spatial variability typically defines variation in soil properties in surface soil such as fertility, pH, EC, soil organic carbon (OC), free CaCO3, mineralizable N,P2O5, K2O and S.
