This study was conducted to evaluate the salt tolerance ability of two soybean cultivars under salinity conditions using a selection of growth and physiological parameters. Three weeks after germination, plants began being treated with either a 100 mM concentration of NaCl in Hoagland solution or a non-salinity (0 mM NaCl) solution.

The present study hypothesized that ruzigrass seed treatment and sowing density and period influence seed germination and seedling establishment and that physical and/or allelopathic effects of the leaves and petioles of soybean cultivars are a major factor for interseeding success. To test these hypotheses, the influences of seed treatment, sowing density, time, and soybean cultivar on the emergence of ruzigrass seedlings in a soybean interseeding system were evaluated with the aim of mitigating environmental effects in the establishment of forage in succession to soybean.

The present investigation was carried out with the objectives to evaluate the efficacy of thirteen short listed Arthrobacter isolates under field conditions with special reference to germination, photosynthetic activity, yield, nodulation characters and nutrient uptake by soybean. Field evaluation was done during kharif 2015-16 at Research Field of Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, JNKVV, Jabalpur, M.P. Outcome of the experimental findings revealed that most of the isolates showed their role for early seed germination at 4th and 6th days after sowing (DAS).

The polymer coating is simple to apply, diffuses rapidly and non- toxic to the seed during germination. By encasing the seed with thin film of biodegradable polymer, the adherence of seed treatment to the seed is improves, ensures dust free handling, making treated seed both useful and environment friendly.

A study having experimental design with pre and post observations including 46 postmenopausal women of 45-55 years was conducted. The selected women were randomly divided into 2 groups. Experimental group A and B received 50g of raw and germinated black soybean flour per day, respectively, for consecutive 90 days. Information on general characteristics, anthropometric measurements and nutrient intake was collected.

Induced mutation by gamma rays irradiation is one way to increase genetic variability of plants. The seeds were irradiated by gamma rays mutation doses, namely 10 kR, 20 kR and 30 kR with response of two soybean cultivars were studied in the M2 generation. Increase in heritability and genetic advance was noticed for some economic traits like seed yield plant-1 , 100 seed weight, number of seeds plant-1 , pod weight plant-1 and germination per cent in M2 offering good scope for selection.

The laboratory study was conducted to ameliorate the aged seeds of soybean mini core set by using various antioxidants and osmotics viz., α-tocopherol (1 %), ascorbic acid (1 %), potassium iodide (2.5 %) and PEG-6000 (1 %). Results revealed that the amelioration with α-tocopherol (1 %) and ascorbic acid (1 %) treatments showed a marked increase in the seed physio-biochemical parameters like seed germination (from 61 % to 74 %), seedling vigour index I (from 783 to 1292), seedling vigour index II (from 330 to 446) and decrease in electrical conductivity (1.80 dS/cm to 1.

In M1 generation, the germination percentage was reduced due to various mutagenic treatments under field as well as laboratory conditions. Reduction in germination was found maximum in higher dose and/or concentration of the mutagens. The progressive decreased in seedling growth viz. root and shoot length with corresponding increase in dose or concentration of gamma rays, ethyl methane sulphonate and their combinations was observed in M1 generation.

Soybean (Glycine max) is a superior plant food known as miracle golden bean for its treasure trove of economical and preeminent protein than the high-priced meat protein. Soybean is not only known for its nutritional components but also provides significant health related benefits. This study was planned to analyze the effect of processing of soybean on its nutritional composition. Raw seeds with and without seed coats and germinated forms of three soybean varieties were analyzed for its nutritional and anti-nutritional components.

Streptomyces spp. ANSP4 and ANSCa22 isolated earlier from rhizospheric soil of Akola district of Maharashtra were studied for their biocontrol potential against Rhizoctonia bataticola isolates from the same region. Both Streptomyces strains ANSP4 and ANSCa22 revealed growth inhibition of Rhizoctonia bataticola isolates R1 and R2 by dual culture method. Efficacy of independent applications of these strains on seedlings vigor index (SVI) of R1 inoculated Soybean seeds were tested by paper towel method. R1 inoculation of healthy soybean seeds resulted in drastic reduction in SVI from 1515.

Salinity has negative impact on plants such as poor germination, reduction in root length, reduction in shoot length and adverse effect on early seedling growth. In order to study the effect of salinity (NaCl 180 mM) on seed germination of soybean, an experiment was conducted to screen 82 diverse soybean genotypes. The results revealed that salinity stress caused by NaCl reduced both germination percentage and seedling growth of soybean varieties. Genotypes differed significantly in terms of tolerance to salinity.
