This study was conducted to determine the seroprevalence of Hepatitis B virus infection and to determine the anti HBs antibody titres among the health care workers. A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted among 52 health care workers of a clinical laboratory. HBsAg detection and anti HBs titre were measured using commercially available ELISA and ELFA kits respectively.

Hepatitis B Infection is an occupational high risk factor. Immune response for vaccination was measured by Antibody to Hepatitis B surface antigen (anti HBs) levels. A course of Hep B vaccine yields a protective immune response (anti-HBs ≥10 mIU/mL) this study was designed to determine the anti HBs levels in Health Care Workers (HCWs) working as laboratory technician and staff nurses.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a global public health problem. There is wide variation in seroprevalence of HBV infection. Majority of these infections are chronic and asymptomatic leading to complications like cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Aim of the study is to determine seroprevalence of HBV among patients who were attending a tertiary care hospital at Mumbai and to study their demographic features. Patients attending outpatient Department and inpatient Department who were advised for HBsAg testing were included in the study.

Hepatitis B viral infection is a major health problem worldwide. New cases can be prevented by immunization with hepatitis B vaccine containing the genetically engineered surface antigen. Values of ≥ 10 IU/ml are considered protective. However a small percentage of individuals fail to develop these levels. Such non responders are at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B virus infection. This is of concern especially in health care personnel. The study comprised of 100 female medical students from Mallareddy Medical College for Women, Suraram who completed the standard 3 dose course of vaccination.

Hepatitis B infection is the tenth leading cause of death and it is one of the major global public health problems with prevalence of 2% to8% in India. Hepatitis B vaccination is required to protect Healthcare workers (HCW) from Hepatitis B infection. Very few data’s are available from India on vaccination status of HCWs. This study is aimed to determine the Post vaccination status among Health Care workers in a tertiary care hospital.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is one of the most important agent causing transfusion transmitted infections in multitranfused patients. HBV-DNA is a concern for transmission from transfusion or transplantation in serologically negative blood for HBV i.e., occult hepatitis B (OHB). The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of HBV infection in multitransfusd patients including OHB infections. The present study was conducted in 200 multitransfused patients attending the haematology/thalassemia OPD. Blood sample were collected and tested for HBsAg, Anti HBs, Anti HBc and HBV DNA by DNA PCR.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is the most common cause of liver disease in endemic areas such as South Korea. After HBV vaccination, hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) titers gradually decrease. Trends in HBsAb titers have not been evaluated among children in South Korea over the past decade.

Dendritic cell (DC) vaccines are a promising and potent therapeutic tool for chronic diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancer because of the unique ability of DCs to stimulate T cells. The challenge of DC vaccines is to find an effective form for antigen presentation.

Although efficient vaccines are available, chronic hepatitis B (HBV) infection poses a major health problem worldwide, and prolonged treatment of chronicallyinfected HBV patients with nucleoside analogs often results in drug-resistantHBVvariants.Therefore, it is critical toevaluate the contribution of the HBV polymerase to mutations. FLAG-taggedwild-type (FPolE) andmutant (FPolE/D551A)HBV polymerases have been expressed in insect cells and purified. The purified FPolE showed DNA polymerase activity, but FPolE/D551A did not, implying that the activity was derived from FPolE....

Intensified government support is required to extend the Expanded Programme on Immuniza- tion (EPI), which currently protects about 80 per- cent of the children in the developing world against six major diseases at a cost of about $1.4 billion a year. Expanding EPI coverage to 95 per- cent of all children would have a significant impact on children in poor households, who make up a disproportionately large share of those not yet reached by the EPI.
