The methanol extracts as well as some compounds from this plant exhibited anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant, hepatoprotective and anti-cancer effect, and antiosteoporotic. On going to search for bioactive components from the Vietnamese plant, this paper reported the isolation of seven phenolic compounds including one new from the aerial parts of A. ilicifolius. The cytotoxic activity of the isolates against two cancer cell lines (HepG2 and SK-LU1) were also screened and reported herein.

The present experiment is aimed to evaluate the hepatoprotective effects of purslane (PuE) and fig leaves (FlE) extracts on diclofenac-sodium (DS) induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Adult male rats were pretreated orally with PuE and FlE extracts at a dose of 10ml/kg and 200mg/kg body weight, respectively for 14 days. Co-treatment of DS 16mg/kg body weight was given orally for 7days.

The main problem now is how to lead people to consume mbuja which nevertheless contains bioactive molecules, which can help in the treatment or in the prevention of some chronic diseases. In order to the valorisation of its nutraceutic property, a study on effect of mbuja oil consumption compare to palm olein and corn oils on renal and liver dysfunction factors in Rats was carried out.

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with average particle sizes of 13.3 nm were synthesized by γrays irradiation of 1.0 mM Au3+ solutions using low molecular weight β-glucan extracted from yeast cell wall as a stabilizer. The UV-Vis spectra and TEM images were used to analyze the optical characteristic and particle size of AuNPs.

To improve bioavailability and stability of hydrophobic and hydrophilic compounds, nanoemulsions are good alternatives as delivery systems because of their nontoxic and nonirritant nature. Glutathione (GSH) suffers from low stability in water, where its encapsulation in nanoemulsions is a powerful strategy to its stability in aqueous systems. The aim of this study was to obtain nanoemulsions from the hydrophobic/hydrophilic contents of N. sativa seed oil so as to improve GSH stability along with bioavailability of N. sativa seed oil.

The medicinal plants combine three properties – curative, preventive and nutritive which provide the human body with necessary strength and vigour to cope with the disease and facilitate the action of the curative agents in the herbal drug. The major prevalent killers of India are cancer, diabetes, heart and liver diseases (Debnath et al., 2015).

Hepatoprotective efficacy of Picrorhiza kurroa in experimentally induced hepatotoxicity in cockerels
Hepatoprotective properties of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Picrorhiza kurroa rhizomes were evaluated in cockerels given acetaminophen @ 500 mg/ body weight orally to induce hepatocellular damage. Ethanolic extract given @ 50 mg/kg body wt and acetaminophen helped in restoration of Hb, PCV, TEC, TLC and lymphocytes and heterophils as well as total protein, albumin and globulin, glucose, cholesterol, bilirubin and activity of AST, ALT, ALP and LDH.

In addition, Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni has recently been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Mint (Mentha avensis L.) is a common medicinal herb. The mixture consisting of the aqueous extract of Ganoderma lucidum (Curtis) P. Karst, mint and stevia powder had a high antioxidant activity, in free radical scavenging method (DPPH), reaching 85.7% at concentration 1000 µg/mL and valuable IC50 was 559.7 µg/mL.

The in vitro total antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of the methanol extract of Ixora duffii leaf (―Trang to‖ in Vietnamese) was investigated using the phosphomolypdenum method and the bovine serum albumin denaturation test, respectively. The results showed that the methanol extract of I. duffii leaf possessed relatively high antioxidant activity (OD0,5 = 15.551 ± 0.344 μg/mL) compared to that of the standard, trolox (OD0,5=2.315 ± 0.083 μg/mL). The antiinflammatory effect using bovine serum albumin denaturation test showed that the activity of the methanol extract of I.

By various chromatographic separations, four phenolic glycosides, methyl salicylate 2-Otriglycoside (1), icariside E5 (2), quercetin 3-O-rutinoside (3), and isorhamnetin 3-O-rutinoside (4) were isolated from the methanol extract of the whole plant of Physalis angulata. Their structures were determined by 1D-, 2D-NMR spectroscopic analyses and by comparison with reported data. Compounds 3 exhibited significant hepatoprotective activity with an EC50 value of 17.08 µg/mL. This is the first report of 1-4 from Physalis angulata.
