Carried out with 57 first-year students with diverse majors at a university in Vietnam, the study examines various levels of English skills, spanning from novice to expert.

This study uses a convenience sampling method. The results showed that online anxiety had a positive effect on self-efficiency, coping had a positive effect on self-efficiency, and coping had a moderator in this relationship. Research results contribute to the theoretical basis of the relationship between online anxiety, coping, and self-efficiency.

Graduation thesis "Developing effective vocabulary learning strategies for business English third year students at HPU" gives some suggestions on how to learn vocabulary effectively to help English learners build their vocabulary. Findings and discussions were gathered from survey questionnaires conducted at HPU and student interviews in class NA2301T, NA2401T. It is hoped that the findings and discussions will contribute to clarifying the current situation of specialized vocabulary learning of third-year HPU students as well as the general situation of all students today.

This paper focuses on the investigation of the differences in multiple intelligences, learning styles, motivation and language learning strategies used by a successful and an unsuccessful foreign language learner. The study finds that the successful language learner has verbal/linguistic, intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligences while the unsuccessful one owns naturalistic intelligence. The study indicates that the successful learner was intrinsically motivated and the unsuccessful one studied English as foreign language to pass examination.

This study aims to investigate pragmatic transfer among Vietnamese learners of English as a foreign language (EFL). It examines the speech act of apologizing in American English and Vietnamese focusing on pragmatic transfer. A discourse completion task (DCT) was used to elicit apology responses from four groups of participants: 18 native speakers of American English (Es), 20 native speakers of Vietnamese (Vs), 20 Vietnamese elementary learners of English (VEEs) and 20 Vietnamese advanced learners of English (VEAs).

The findings showed that there was no big difference in the development and organization of ideas between the two groups’ writing performances. In fact, the participants’ writing performance depended on the assigned topics and required subskills. In detail, depicting was found to assist generating ideas, but outlining was found useful in helping organizing ideas. Regarding the participants’ preferences, nearly half of the participants preferred outlining and slightly over one third preferred depicting.
