  • Drag reduction in fully developed turbulent pipe flow with 4 concentrations (200 to 500 wppm or mg/kg) of low molecular weight sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) in aqueous solutions was investigated experimentally. Drag reduction was determined by pressure drop measurements. Maximum drag reduction achieved was 22% using 500 wppm CMC solution. To observe the impact of the presence of CMC on the flow, ultrasound Doppler velocimetry (UDV) was employed to monitor the instantaneous velocity distributions.

  • This study conducted a sensitivity analysis of physical models in RELAP5 code based on experimental data measured on the FEBA test facility. Sixteen physical models have been selected for sensitivity analysis to find the most important models that influence the calculation results. Based on two criteria, the maximum cladding temperature and the quench time, the sensitivity analysis results show that four physical models significantly impact the calculation result. Four chosen physical models are considered further in the next step of their uncertainty evaluation.

  • This paper thus investigates the problem of maximizing the network lifetime to ensure strong barrier coverage for heterogeneous case (MLBC-HWCSN), that has not been taken into account in WCSNs research. We formulate the problem, and then propose a Modified Maximum Flow Algorithm (MMFA) consisting of three stages: constructing the flow-network, finding the maximum flow and refining the solution to solve this problem. Experimental results on extensive instances show that the proposed methodology is suitable for the studied problem and more efficient than existing algorithms.

  • This research focus on to presents of the MQL parameters optimization approach in which the multi-response outputs based on Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array method is used. During the turning AISI-1045 steel, the cutting temperature, the maximum of tool wear, and the surface roughness were measured. The MQL parameters which are ratio of soluble lubricant and water, pressure of spray head, flow volume of emulsion was simultaneously optimized by taking the multi-response outputs using Taguchi based grey relational analysis (GRA) into consideration.

  • The effect of mass flow rate, volume concentration inlet temperature on heat transfer rate with varied coolant mass flow rate ranging from 6LPM, 8LPM, 10LPM were examined. Results shows that heat transfer rate linearly increases with increase in mass flow rate and volume concentration, the best heat transfer rate is achieved at 0.3% volume fraction of CuO at 10LPM. A maximum enhancement of 35% in heat transfer rate is obtained for 0.3% concentration of CuO nanofluid.

  • The convective heat transfer coefficient was improved up to 23.84% by using TiO2 nanofluids instead of the base fluid. It was found that TiO2 nanofluid with a volume fraction of 0.3% (at a mass flow rate of 0.0689 kg/s) will provide the maximum efficiency enhancement in the PTSC (9.66% higher than the water-based collector). Consequently, the absorbed energy parameter was found to be 10.3% greater than that of the base fluid.
