In this study, we used the reliable GC-FID/MS technique to analyze the methyl ester derivatives of 37 different kinds of fatty acids. The results showed that high saturated fat concentration in all samples was mostly palmitic acid, whereas the low unsaturated fatty acid content in the cis form was primarily oleic acid and linoleic acid. The amount of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats is quite low.

natural fiber for the construction of hybrid bio-composites. In the current research project, a thorough analysis of the use of soy-PF resin for the creation of composites reinforced with jute was conducted. A novel and practical cutlery material was created after the mechanical properties were evaluated and optimized. In order to study the value addition of these newly proposed biocomposite materials as an ecological alternative in terms of natural resources versus synthetic resources, variables such as hardness, cytotoxicity, and degrading qualities of composites were also explored.

Different types of halophiles have solved the problem how to hope with salt stress (and often with other forms of stress as well) in different ways, so that the study of microbial life at high salt concentrations can answer many basic questions on the adaptation of microorganisms to their environments. Most known halophiles are relatively easy to grow, and genera such as Halobacterium, Haloferax.

Sugarcane juice is commonly used as a delicious drink in both urban and rural areas. Sugarcane juice is spoiled quickly due to the presence of simple sugars. Preservation of sugarcane juice was examined to reduce the spoilage and to increase the shelf life by membrane processing. A study was carried out to preserve sugarcane juice by membrane processing and compared with the untreated juice.

a-Sarcin, a cyclizing ribonuclease secreted by the mould Aspergillus giganteus, is one of the best characterized members of a family of fungal ribotoxins. This protein induces apoptosis in tumour cells due to its highly specific activity on ribosomes. Fungal ribotoxins display a threedimensional protein fold similar to those of a larger group of microbial noncytotoxic RNases, represented by RNases T1 and U2.

Dendrimeric peptides selective for microbial surfaces have been developed to achieve broad antimicrobial activity and low hemolytic activity to human erythrocytes. The dendrimeric core is an asymmetric lysine branching tethered with two to eight copies of a tetrapeptide (R4) or an octapeptide (R8). The R4 tetrapeptide (RLYR) contains a putative microbial surface recognition BHHB motif (B ¼ basic, H ¼ hydrophobic amino acid) found in protegrins and tachyplesins whereas the octapeptide R8 (RLYRKVYG) consists of an R4 and a degenerated R4 repeat....

Several microbial pathogens have been reported to interact with glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) on cell surfaces and in the extracellularmatrix. Herewe demonstrate thatM protein, a major surface-expressed virulence factor of the human bac-terial pathogen, Streptococcus pyogenes, mediates binding to various forms of GAGs. Hence, S. pyogenesstrains expressing a large number of different types of M proteins bound to dermatan sulfate (DS), highly sulfated fractions of heparan sulfate (HS) and heparin, whereas strains deficient in M protein surface expression failed to interact with these GAGs. ...

Recent studies on type II thioesterases (TEIIs) involved in microbial secondary metabolism described a role for these enzymes in the removal of short acyl-S- phosphopantetheine intermediates from misprimed holo-(acyl carrier proteins) and holo-(peptidyl carrier proteins) of polyketide synthases and nonribosomal peptide synthetases.

The aim of our studies is to get access to as much as possible of the protein species present in the proteome under analysis. Already at the low complexity level of proteasomes it becomes clear that proteins are massively modified. There are about 70 spots representing different protein forms from which only some of them were identified at the protein species level.

Phenylpyruvate decarboxylase (PPDC) ofAzospirillum brasilense, involved in the biosynthesis of the plant hormone indole-3-acetic acid and the anti-microbial compound phenylacetic acid, is a thiamine diphosphate-depend-ent enzyme that catalyses the nonoxidative decarboxylation of indole- and phenylpyruvate.
