Sugarcane juice is commonly used as a delicious drink in both urban and rural areas. Sugarcane juice is spoiled quickly due to the presence of simple sugars. Preservation of sugarcane juice was examined to reduce the spoilage and to increase the shelf life by membrane processing. A study was carried out to preserve sugarcane juice by membrane processing and compared with the untreated juice.

a-Sarcin, a cyclizing ribonuclease secreted by the mould Aspergillus giganteus, is one of the best characterized members of a family of fungal ribotoxins. This protein induces apoptosis in tumour cells due to its highly specific activity on ribosomes. Dendrimeric peptides selective for microbial surfaces have been developed to achieve broad antimicrobial activity and low hemolytic activity to human erythrocytes. Several microbial pathogens have been reported to interact with glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) on cell surfaces and in the extracellularmatrix. Herewe demonstrate thatM protein, a major surface-expressed virulence factor of the human bac-terial pathogen, Streptococcus pyogenes, mediates binding to various forms of GAGs.
