  • The milk samples (Raw and Boiled) were collected from various vendors of Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana district. Three different samples of Pasteurized milk samples were taken from the market. These samples were evaluated for their quality by determining Standard Plate Count (SPC) and Coliform count. The bacterial colonies ranged from 0.7×104 cfu/ml to 6×106 cfu/ml in boiled milk. Methylene Blue reduction test (MBRT) had also been performed to check microbial quality of the samples and Sample 1 (both raw and boiled) was reported to be poor.

  • A study was carried out to compare the feeding management practices of specialized dairy farms of north and south Gujarat. The data were collected from each ten specialized dairy farm each from north and south Gujarat. Analyzed data revealed that Machine milking was used by more (35%) dairy farms while, advanced parlour system was used by around 20 per cent dairy farms. Significantly higher (70%) numbers of the dairy farms of north region were preferred machine milking.

  • A bench mark survey was undertaken to find out the dairy animal management practices followed by the member farmers of dairy co-operative society in randomly selected three talukas of Rajkot district in Saurashtra region of Gujarat state. In each taluka five villages and in each village ten respondents were selected. It was observed that all the respondents milked their animals twice in a day by using wet knuckling method (98%) of milking – Majority of the milked produced generally goes to dairy co - operative society except the amount, which routinely used for family need.
