This study presents a novel mixed-mode weak cation-exchange (WCX) material. In the study, the authors studied the effect of the electrical current (Ip); the time-on discharge (Ton) on the penetration of tungsten into the surface of SKD61 steel at different concentrations of tungsten carbide powder used in powder mixed electrical discharge machining. The research has shown that the electrical current and the time-on discharge can impact greatly on the penetration of tungsten and the carbidation of the steel surface.

The obtained results indicate that the complexes bind to DNA through intercalation mode, which is further validated by molecular docking studies. The hydrolytic cleavage of the pBR322 DNA from supercoiled to nicked form, by the metal complexes was investigated by gel electrophoresis technique. The metal complexes were also screened for their antioxidant, antiinflammatory and antibacterial activities and the findings have been reported.

In this work our objective is to understand the failure behaviour of unreinforced masonry under in-plane cyclic loading. For this purpose we proposed a plasticity based interface model consists of a single yield surface criteria which is a direct extension of Mohr–Coulomb criteria with a tension cut and compression cap and a back stress vector is introduced as a mixed hardening law variable in the adopted yield surface to capture the unloading/reloading behaviour of masonry under cyclic loading.

Mixed mode I/II stress intensity factors of an edge slant-cracked plate under tensile loading were assessed. A two-dimensional finite element analysis was employed using ABAQUS. Various crack lengths and angles were analyzed. The effect of the crack location at the plate edge was also examined. Crack initiation angles were calculated.
