Cervical thymoma is a rare thymic epithelial neoplasm. Evidence supports an increased risk of second primary malignancies in patients with thymoma. We report a rare case of a patient with synchronous cervical thymoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Nivolumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor that blocks inhibitors of T-cell activation and blunts antitumor immunity and is used in the treatment of various cancers. However, immune checkpoint inhibitors have immune-related adverse effects on various organs due to promoting T-cell activity against host tissues by blocking inhibition of T-cell function.

The association of infammatory myopathy and myasthenia gravis is a rarely described entity whose clinical presentation has always been intriguing because of the great clinical similarity between these two pathologies. The presence of a thymic pathology often explains this combination, whose mechanisms are very complex.

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune condition affecting the neuromuscular junction and causing muscle weakness along with fatigue (myasthenia). When the clinical manifestations of myasthenia gravis are isolated to the eye muscles, only causing weak eye movements, it is referred to as ocular myasthenia gravis, which can mimic a 1 and ½ syndrome.

Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation therapy has been widely used in recent decades for the treatment of hematological diseases, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. In autoimmune diseases, self-activated T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes secreting antibodies against host antigens are considered to be central in the pathogenesis of the disease.

Myasthenia gravis is an archetypal human autoimmune disease. Thymectomy is proven effective by controlled clinical trials, and is commonly part of the immunotherapeutic approach when myasthenia creates generalized weakness. Pemphigus foliaceus is also autoimmune but treated medically; and thymectomy is not part of therapy unless thymoma is discovered. Autoimmune mechanisms, age distribution, and response to therapy in autoimmune disorders are likely to be different with thymoma.

Nivolumab is a checkpoint inhibitor approved to treat various solid organs malignancies. Although checkpoint inhibitors are very efficacious, these medications are also associated with a variety of side effects that could be life-threatening. We present a case of nivolumab-induced myasthenia gravis in a patient with stage IV esophageal cancer, who was found to have generalized weakness, blurry vision, diplopia, and later developed acute hypoxic respiratory failure with subsequent intubation.

We present herein the case of an elderly male patient, who was receiving immunotherapy for his urothelial cancer and who presented to our facility with lower extremity weakness. The patient was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, thyroiditis, myositis and myocarditis, which were considered as immune adverse events of pembrolizumab therapy.

To review some characteristics of technique and evaluate the early-result of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for thymoma with myasthenia gravis at 103 Military Hospital. Subjects and methods: 61 thymoma patients with myasthenia gravis who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery thymectomy at 103 Military Hospital, from 10 - 2013 to 5 - 2019 were included. Results: There were no in-hospital mortality or major postoperative complications. The mean of operation time was 91.80 ± 49.94 mins, the mean of blood loss was 37.38 ± 31.
