Bài viết Đánh giá đa dạng nguồn gen thuốc lá (Nicotiana tabacum) tại Việt Nam dựa trên đặc điểm hình thái và chỉ thị phân tử SSR kết hợp 16 đặc điểm hình thái và 5 chỉ thị phân tử SSR để đánh giá sự đa dạng của 71 nguồn gen thuốc lá Việt Nam. Kết quả đánh giá dựa trên đặc điểm hình thái cho thấy các dòng thuốc lá được phân chia thành 3 nhóm với sự khác biệt về các đặc điểm hình thái quan trọng như tổng số lá, chiều dài, rộng của lá, khối lượng lá khô và tươi.

Anther culture is an effective breeding method for improving desirable traits, since it allows fast achievement of genetically homozygous lines. The present studies were carried out to evaluate the response of flue-cured tobacco anthers for high frequency pollen embryo induction in different culture media, and the effects of colchicine treatment on tobacco chromosome doubling. The results showed that different media caused significant changes in pollen embryo induction, in which the most obvious change was found in B medium with induction rates of 23.28%, 26.64%, and 28.

Using chemicals known as inhibitors of chromatin remodeling enzymes is a useful approach in understanding the regulation machinery that contributes to the maintenance of or conversion to a pluri- and totipotent states of the cells in multicellular organisms. They can serve as tools to reveal the molecular and cellular mechanisms required for reprogramming. A deeper understanding of reprogramming pathways that drive the cell into a dedifferentiated state might help us enhance plant micropropagation and green biotechnology applications.

The recombinant miraculin was 19.97 ng per µg of the total soluble protein and equivalently with approximately 2% of the total soluble protein. For the first time, a taste modifying miraculin was successfully expressed in tobacco hairy root. The results in this study have given a promising approach for the application of the transgenic hairy root system to produce recombinant miraculin.

Advances in genomics technologies are making it increasingly feasible to characterize breeding lines that carry traits of agronomic interest. Tobacco germplasm lines that carry loci designated VAM and va have been extensively investigated due to their association with potyvirus resistance (both VAM and va) and defects in leaf surface compounds originating from glandular trichomes (VAM only). Molecular studies and classical genetic analyses are consistent with the model that VAM and va represent deletion mutations in the same chromosomal region.
