In this study, masonry infills are considered a building envelope with loadbearing function. A finite element procedure for the effective properties of microcracked viscoelastic masonry based on homogenization technique is provided to take into account the influence of crack density and time.

The present paper develops a polynomial chaos expansion (PCE)-based surrogate model for characterizing the microstructure-properties relationships of acoustic monodisperse foams. First, the acoustic properties of the considered structures are estimated numerically by homogenization techniques using an idealized periodic unit cell and the Johnson-Champoux-Allard-Pride-Lafarge (JCAPL) model.

In the present work, the large displacement behaviour of FGSW beams in thermal environment is studied by a finite element formulation. The beams considered herein consist of three layers, a homogeneous core and two FGM skin layers. The material properties are assumed to be temperature dependent, and they are graded in the thickness direction by a power gradation law. Based on Antman beam model, a nonlinear beam element using linear interpolation is formulated in the context of the total Lagrange formulation.

The paper presents a numerical method to simulate two-phase turbulent cavitating flows in ducts of varying cross-section usually faced in engineering. The method is based on solution of two-phase Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations of two-phase mixture. The numerical method uses artificial compressibility algorithm extended to unsteady flows with dual-time technique.

Hydrogenation is one of the most intensively studied fields of metal complex catalyzed homogeneous transformations. There are several reasons for such a strong interest in this reaction. First of all, there are numerous important compounds which can be produced through hydrogenation, such as pharmaceuticals, herbicides, flavors, fragrances, etc [1-3]. Activation of is involved in other important industrial processes, such as hydroformylation, therefore the mechanistic conclusions drawn from hydrogenation studies can be relevant in those fields, as well.
