To evaluate the role of laparoscopy in diagnosis of post-operative small bowel obstruction. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from June, 2012 to June, 2019 on 99 patients with post-operative small intestinal obstruction, who laparoscopically diagnosed at Trung Vuong Emergency Hospital, Hochiminh City. Results: Using laparoscopy, the successful rate of diagnosis of small bowel obstruction was 92.9%, among which 83.8% had been diagnosed with the site of obstruction, and 80.8% with the cause of obstruction.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a major clinical disorder usually associated with cigarette smoking. A central feature of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is inflammation coexisting with an abnormal protease/anti-protease balance, leading to apoptosis and elastolysis. In anin vitro study of rat lung alveolar L2 cells, cigarette smoke extract (CSE) induced apoptotic cell death. Expo-sure of L2 cells to CSE at a concentration of 0.25% resulted in a 50% increase of caspase-3 and matrix met-alloproteinase (MMP) activities.

In this paper we present the solution to a longstanding problem of differential geometry: Lie’s third theorem for Lie algebroids. We construct many examples of nonslice knots in 3-space that cannot be distinguished from slice knots by previously known invariants. Using Whitney towers in place of embedded disks, we define a geometric filtration of the 3-dimensional topological knot concordance group.
