Objective of the study: The general objective of this study is to produce catalysts of bimetallic oxides (Cu-Co), on porous materials (activated carbon, silica gel, MCM-41) to adsorb and oxidize VOCs, which is represented by toluene, a popular VOCs with particular properties of the BTEX group in many industrial factories, at low temperature.

A nitroalkane-oxidizing enzyme gene (naoA) was cloned from a genomic DNA library ofStreptomyces ansochromo-genes7100. The deduced protein (NaoA) of this gene con-tains 363 amino acids and has high similarity to several nitroalkane-oxidizing enzymes from various micro-organ-isms.ThenaoAgenewas subcloned intoanexpressionvector pET23b and overexpressed inEscherichia coliBL21(DE3). The protein was then purified, and its characteristics were studied. Experimental results showed that NaoA can con-vert 1-nitropropane, 2-nitropropane and nitroethane into the corresponding carbonyl compounds....

To investigate how solubility and steric issues affect the laccase-catalysedoxidationof phenols, a series of oligomeric polyphenol compounds, having increasing size and decreasing solubility in water, was incubated with laccase. The extent of substrate conversion, and the nature of the products formed in buffered aqueous solutions, were com-pared to those obtained in the presence of an organic cosolvent, and also in the presence of twomediating species, i.e. N-hydroxyphthalimide (HPI) and 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidin-1-yloxy (TEMPO). ...

The physiological role of a bifunctional enzyme, 3,4-dihydrocoumarin hydrolase (DCH), which is capable of both hydrolysis of ester bonds and organic acid-assisted bromination of organic compounds, was investigated. Purified DCH fromAcinetobacter calcoaceticusF46 cata-lysed dose- and time-dependent degradation of peracetic acid. The gene (dch) was cloned from the chromosomal DNA of the bacterium.

Catalytic oxidation of organic compounds is an extremely important field of chemistry, spanning the range from biological oxidations to large scale industrial production of commodity chemicals. However, many of these transformations can hardly be classified as organometallic reactions, since the catalysts (often simple metal salts) and the intermediates can be rather regarded as coordination complexes than organometallic compounds.
