On one of my returns to California, I attended the "Disabilities Expo 88" at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Among the various marvels oftech nology for the wheelchair disabled were stair-climbing wheelchairs, self raising and lowering kitchen cabinetry, and even a completely accessible "dude ranch" experience.

In several shows prepared for children and adults in the media, the representation of “individuals with special needs” can ensure that other members of the society empathize with disability and the characteristics of disabled people, and make it easier that prejudices are replaced by social acceptance through gaining information.

Rare diseases affect 30 million people in the USA and more than 300–400 million worldwide, often causing chronic illness, disability, and premature death. Traditional diagnostic techniques rely heavily on heuristic approaches, coupling clinical experience from prior rare disease presentations with the medical literature.

Cancers are as common in individuals with intellectual disabilities as in the general population (GP). For the subgroup of people with profound and multiple disabilities (PMD) who present with both severe intellectual disability and major motor disorders, the frequency and distribution of cancers are currently not known, preventing proper cancer surveillance.

The paper proposes some policy implications to improve vocational training for WWDs in Vietnam. The results show that i) WWDs face more discrimination in daily life and employment than men with disabilities (MWDs); ii) There are companies that support WWDs to get a job and integrate with society; and iii) Current support from the government is not as effective as expected and that they should have more policies to encourage the involvement of companies in vocational training for WWDs.

Health informatics interventions are designed to help people avoid, recover from, or cope with disease and disability, or to improve the quality and safety of healthcare. Unfortunately, they pose a risk of producing intervention-generated inequalities (IGI) by disproportionately benefiting more advantaged people.

The widespread use of telehealth resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has the potential to further exacerbate inequities faced by people with disabilities. Although, for some members of the disability community, the option to engage with telehealth may result in reduced barriers to care, for others, inadequate attention to the design, implementation, and policy dimensions may be detrimental.

Those living with disadvantage suffer from higher rates of chronic conditions and multimorbidities. Little work has been done to investigate how this cohort experience patient-centred care and what their outcomes might be. This study showed that as a result of a short course of treatment clients experienced better levels of health and wellbeing and decreased levels of pain and disability. Interview data suggest that this may be due to a combination of therapy, setting and relationships formed within that setting.

The present study will examine the factors that are related to the process and maintenance of resilience and positive functioning in the daily lives of people living with PD compared to those without PD (Kralik et al., 2006; Luthar et al., 2000; Ravenek et al., 2017). In addition, as related to Garroway (2015), the present study will explore the degree to which mediating factors differ between shorter duration, less symptomatically severe groups (early stages) and longer duration, typically more symptomatically severe groups (late stages).

Fear of falling (FoF) and physical activity (PA) are important psychological and behavioral factors associated with falls. No instrument quantifies the link between these two factors to evaluate the risk of falls. We aimed to design a scale linking FoF with PA (Composite Activities-specific Risk of Falls Scale, CARFS) for people with various disability levels.
