The paper "Dynamic response analysis of nanobeams resting on elastic foundations" uses the finite element method to study the dynamic response of nanobeams resting on an elastic foundation, taking into account the flexoelectricity effect. Timoshenko's first-order shear deformation theory is used to derive the formulations of the beam's forced vibration equation. The proposed theory and mechanical model are verified by comparing the numerical results of this work with those of the published data.

The model was applied to the study long wave propagation on uneven bathymetries, after that, compared with analytical solutions or published numerical ones to understand more about the interaction processes between the long wave and sea beach or island in terms of water and velocity profiles. Very good agreement is observed in the figures bellow, showing good application prospect.

Pain following hip arthroscopy is highly variable and can be severe. Little published data exists demonstrating reliable predictors of significant pain after hip arthroscopy. The aim of this study was to identify influence of intraoperative factors (arthroscopic fluid infusion pressure, operative type) on the severity of postoperative pain.

This mini-review examines the recent advances in umpolung strategy, devised originally by Corey and Seebach. Although numerous stoichiometric variants have been published to date, this article covers just the catalytic C-C bond forming reactions due to their major benefits such as atom economy, less pollution, and workable simplicity. In the context of umpolung, the studies are evaluated under 3 main titles: enzyme, N -heterocyclic carbene, and cyanide ion catalyzed reactions. In particular, enzyme and NHC catalyzed reactions mainly involve asymmetric applications.

In addition, the displacement field of THSDT needs the high continuity in approximated formulation with high-order derivatives for a weak form of fourth order equation. According to IGA formulation based on the generalized THSDT, the shear locking phenomenon is free. The variables of THSDT are less than HSDTs which contain five DOFs per node. The influences of weight fractions, the coefficient porosity, dispersion patterns of GPLs and distribution types of porosity on structure’s natural frequencies are studied through some numerical examples.

This paper presents the numerical result for the static bending analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) box by using the finite element method (FEM). The authors code the calculation program in MATLAB software and checked the established program by comparing it with other published works. In addition, the effects of some geometrical and material parameters on the static bending analysis of FGM boxes are investigated in detail.

Evidence bearing on the role of statins in the prevention and treatment of cancer is confounded by the diversity of statins, chemotherapeutic agents and cancer types included in the numerous published studies; consequently, the adjunctive value of statins with chemotherapy remains uncertain.

In this paper, a numerical Discrete Element Method (DEM) model was calibrated to investigate the transmission of force in granular media. To this aim, DEM simulation was performed for reproducing the behavior of a given granular material under uniform compression. The DEM model was validated by comparing the obtained shear stress/normal stress ratio with results published in the available literature. The network of contact forces was then computed, showing the arrangement of the material microstructure under applied loading...

Determination of bending failure load of hat-type folded composite plate using finite element method
This paper analyzed the failure of the hat-type laminated composite plate under a bending load. Based on the Reissner-Mindlin plate theory and isoparametric rectangular plate elements with five degrees of freedom per node, an algorithm and Matlab code were established to compute the stresses and bending failure load of the folded composite plate according to Tsai-Wu and Maximum stresses criteria. The numerical results are reliable when compared with the published results in the literature for some specific cases.

The research results are used to predict the lateral load-deformation of piles for different cases and comparison with published research results. On that basis predicting the suitable distance horizontal loading piles that a pile negligible influenced from adjacent pile on a slope. This is a matter of high scientific and practical significance in foundation engineering in general, as well as in calculating pile foundations on a slopes in particular.

In the field of rock mechanics, underground construction and mining, there have been many proposed methods for studying geo-hazards and also many research results that have been published in the world. In Vietnam, the numerical method is mainly used for analysis and design but not going deeply to predict the possible causes that lead to geo-hazards due to complex geological conditions. On the other hand, underground constructions and exploitation projects are often designed based on standards, regulations and experiences.

This study proposes a numerical model based on the depth-integrated non-hydrostatic shallow water equations with an improvement of wave breaking dissipation. Firstly, studies of parameter sensitivity were carried out using the proposed numerical model for simulation of wave breaking to understand the effects of the parameters of the breaking model on wave height distribution. The simulated results of wave height near the breaking point were very sensitive to the time duration parameter of wave breaking. The best value of the onset breaking parameter is around 0.

This paper presents the new numerical results of vibration response analysis of cracked FGM plate based on phase-field theory and finite element method. The stiffener is added into one surface of the structure, and it is parallel to the edges of the plate. The displacement compatibility between the stiffener and the plate is clearly indicated, so the working process of the structure is described obviously. The proposed theory and program are verified by comparing with other published papers.
