Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Treatment approaches that differ between estrogen-positive (ER+) and triple-negative BC cells (TNBCs) and may subsequently affect cancer biomarkers, such as H19 and telomerase, are an emanating delight in BC research.

Pretreated onion pastes were evaluated for storage condition in this study. The pretreated onion paste was packed in glass containers and aluminum foil bags for storage period of 2 months at ambient condition and refrigeration condition (4.4ºC) for storage. Citric acid of 0.3% and sodiummeta bisulfate of 0.3% were used for pretreatment of the paste. The study was concluded that statistically highly significant differences were observed for moisture content, total soluble solids and pyruvic acid when stored at room temperature and refrigeration condition.

High salinity adversely affects crop production. Pyruvic acid is the precursor of abscisic acid (ABA) and other chemicals that are synthesized in chloroplast, some of which are involved in the response to salt. The transportation of pyruvic acid into chloroplast is mediated by pyruvate transporters.

Pyruvate kinase (Pyk) catalyzes the generation of pyruvate and ATP in glycolysis and functions as a key switch in the regulation of carbon flux distribution. Both the substrates and products of Pyk are involved in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, anaplerosis and energy anabolism, which places Pyk at a primary metabolic intersection.

Response of different sources and levels of sulphur on quality and grading of onion (Allium cepa L.)
Onion is one of the important and commercial vegetable crops of India. Onion is sulphur loving crop and its requirement is high for improved yield and quality. Sulphur has been recognized as an important nutrient for higher yield, quality and nutrient uptake of onion bulbs. Keeping these in view, a field experiment was conducted at ICAR- National Institute on Abiotic Stress Management (ICAR – NIASM), Baramati, during Rabi, 2017-18 to study the effect of sources and levels of sulphur on bulb quality and grading in onion (cv. Bhima Kiran).

Purple nonsulfur bacteria are a group of diverse biotechnological applications, particularly in producing functional food rich in unsaturated fatty acids. In this study, a purple nonsulfur bacterium strain HPB.6 was chosen based on its strong growth, high lipid production and synthesis of unsaturated fatty acid (omega 6, 7, 9). The studying on biological characteristics showed that strain HPB.6 comprises ovoid-rod shaped cells with diameter of 0.8 - 1.0 µm, none motile, Gram negative stained. The cells divide by binary fission and contain bacteriochlorophyll a (Bchl a).

A field study was conducted to know the effect of field application of salicylic acid, azoxystrobin and cycocel on storage behavior of onion cv. Arka Kalyan during kharif season of 2016-17 at College of Horticulture, Bagalkot. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design, with 12 treatments and 3 replication. The harvested bulbs were kept in storage for 4 months at ambient condition during which various physical parameters including sprouting and chemical parameters like pyruvic acid and total soluble solids were analysed. The reduction in the mean sprouting i.e., 2.

The glycolytic pathway converts glucose to pyruvate and produces two molecules of ATP per glucose only a small fraction of the potential energy available from glucose. Under anaerobic conditions, pyruvate is reduced to lactate in animals and to ethanol in yeast, and much of the potential energy of the glucose molecule remains untapped. In the presence of oxygen, however, a much more interesting and thermodynamically complete story unfolds.

Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase (PDK) is the primary regulator of flux through the mitochondrial pyruvate dehy-drogenase complex (PDC).Analysis of the primary amino-acid sequences of PDK from various sources reveals that these enzymes include the five domains characteristic of prokaryotic two-component His-kinases, despite the fact that PDKexclusivelyphosphorylates Ser residues in theE1a subunit of the PDC.This seeming contradiction might be resolved if the PDK-catalyzed reaction employed a phos-pho-His intermediate....

The pathway of the oxidation of propionate to pyruvate in Escherichia coliinvolves five enzymes, only two of which, methylcitrate synthase and 2-methylisocitrate lyase, have been thoroughly characterized. Here we report that the isomerization of (2S,3S)-methylcitrate to (2R,3S)-2-methyl-isocitrate requires anovel enzyme, methylcitratedehydratase (PrpD), and the well-known enzyme, aconitase (AcnB), of the tricarboxylic acid cycle.

The pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) is subjected to multiple interacting levels of control in plant cells. The first level is subcellular compartmentation. Plant cells are unique inhaving twodistinct, spatially separated forms of the PDC; mitochondrial (mtPDC) and plastidial (plPDC). The mtPDCis the site of carbon entry into the tricarboxylic acid cycle, while the plPDCprovides acetyl-CoAandNADHfor de novofatty acid biosynthesis.

Limitedproteolysis of the pyruvate decarboxylase (E1,a2b2 ) component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) multi-enzyme complexofBacillus stearothermophilushas indicated the importance for catalysis of a site (Tyr281-Arg282) in the E1asubunit (Chauhan, H.J., Domingo, G.J., Jung, H.-I. & Perham, R.N. (2000)Eur. J. Biochem.267, 7158–7169). This site appears to be conserved in the a-subunit of hetero-tetrameric E1s and multiple sequence alignments suggest that there are additional conserved amino-acid residues in this region, part of a common pattern with the consensus sequence -YR-H-D-YR-DE-.
