In this study, platinum (Pt) microelectrodes are modified with electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) using a simple and effective protocol. These Pt/ERGO microelectrodes are able to be used as electrochemical sensors for direct and rapid detection of ascorbic acid (AA) in aqueous solutions using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) measurements.

Drug-resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB) is challenging public health problem in countries with high tuberculosis prevalence and limited resources. In conclusion, sequence analysis may be useful for the rapid detection of STR resistance in MDR M. tuberculosis strains, which in turn could contribute to better control strategies of TB in Vietnam. Other molecular mechanisms associated with STR resistance in STR-resistant strains without mutations in the rpsL and rrs genes need to be further investigated.

The results showed that the RPA reaction, without requiring complex thermal cycles, was well-performed in the optimal conditions of 39°C within only 25 minutes. The limit of detection was identified as 310 fg of L. monocytogenes genomic DNA, which was 1000-fold more sensitive than the conventional PCR. RPA also succeeded to directly detect L. monocytogenes cells at a concentration as low as 2.5 × 101 Colony Forming Unit (CFU)/mL in pure cultures. In addition, RPA could accurately detect L. monocytogenes at 2.5 × 102 CFU/mL in milk without sample extraction or processing.

For the first time, the detection of DNA sequences, related to HIV (found in AIDS patients), using Methylene Blue (MB) as the redox indicator was performed. The voltametric signals have been investigated on bared chitosan (CS) modified; probe immobilized (DNA single strand) and target-hybridized (DNA double strand) electrodes sequentially by means of Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Square Wave Voltammetry (SWV). The response of hybridization between the probe and perfectly complementary, double-base mismatch, single-base mismatch of analyzed targets were clearly identified.

A duplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR)/denaturing high-pressure liquid chromatography (DHPLC) was used to detect the mutations and deletions. A blinded study of 110 samples, which included 92 a-thalassemia samples with various genotypes and 18 normal DNA samples, was carried out by the methods.

Abstract Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) kinase domain mutations hyperactivate the kinase and confer kinase addiction of the non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tumor cells. Almost all of these mutations are located within exons 18-21. The -216 single nucleotide polymorphism in the promoter region is associated with increased EGFR production. We present a method for detecting these common mutations in 81 cases of NSCLC.
