Reduced interval techniques

Two-dimensional electrophoresis (2DE) is one of the most widely applied techniques in comparative proteomics. The basic task of 2DE is to identify differential protein expression by quantitative analysis of 2DE images. To reduce the errors of spot quantification in 2DE images, a novel brightness correction method based on gradient interval histogram (GIH) is proposed in this paper.

Groundnut is an important oil seed crop largely grown under rainfed conditions in India. Uneven distribution and or failure of monsoon rain affects the plant growth and reduces the productivity When crop is subjected to water stress it closes the stomata leading to reduced photosynthesis. Detection of plant water stress and assessing the possible effect on the growth and yield of crop is often difficult and challenging.

Hydration of ordinary Portland cement in the presence of two different types of superplasticizers namely sodium lignosulfonate (LS) and naphthalene sulfonate-formaldehyde condensate (NSF) was studied using different experimental techniques. Superplasticized ordinary Portland cement pastes were prepared using the values of standard water of consistency with different additions of each types of superplasticizers used. Pastes were hydrated for different time intervals under normal curing conditions.

In this paper we propose two algorithms based on branch and bound method and reduced interval techniques to compute all real zeros of a polynomial. Quadratic bounding functions are proposed which are better than the well known linear underestimator. Experimental result shows the efficiency of the two algorithms when facing ill-conditionned polynomials.
