Bệnh thấp khớp (Rheumatoid Arthritis RA) là một bệnh viêm mãn tính của khớp. Bệnh nhân chiếm 0.8% trong người lớn trên toàn thế giới, khoảng 30-50 tuổi, nữ giới thường bị gấp 2 lần nam giới. Rheumatoid arthritis is a multifactorial disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the joints. Both genetic and environmental factors are involved in the pathogenesis leading to joint destruction and ultimately dis-ability. In the inflamed RA joint the synovium is highly infiltrated by CD4 + T cells, B cells and macrophages, and the intimal lining becomes hyperplastic owing to the increased number of macrophage-like and fibro-blast-like synoviocytes.

We studied the role of monocyte chemoattractant (MCP)-4⁄CCL13 in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). MCP-4 was highly expressed in cartilage from RA patients. Interferon-c significantly stimulated MCP-4⁄ CCL13 production in human chondrocytes, and this effect was enhanced in combination with interleukin-1b or tumor necrosis factor-a.
