There has been a great advancement in food processing methods over the years from traditional thermal processing to various non-thermal processings like high-pressure, electric field and radiations based methods. These methods have been found more effective and less damaging to food quality. This review describes the mechanism of inactivation of microbes due to these newer methods of food processing. These methods kill vegetative microbes but fail to effectively kill spores, but a combination of methods can be used to achieve the objective.

Vegetable production is a profitable business in India, however it is difficult to judge how they are safe for human consumption as farmers spray large amount of pesticides which not only increases the cost of cultivation but also leaves residual toxicity in vegetables. To address these challenges, protected cultivation technology i.e., poly house, shade net, micro tunnel etc., have been worldwide accepted in horticultural sector and there will a tremendous scope to study about economic analysis of vegetables under shade nets.

Changes in melanosis, microbiology, and fat oxidation in Pacific white shrimps (Litopenaeus vannamei) when treated with Houttuynia cordata extract (designated E-DC) were monitored during cold storage for seven days at 20 C. Whole shrimps treated with E-DC solution (0.025%, w/v) revealed slow growth of total aerobic microorganisms, Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, throughout cold storage in comparison to the control sample treated by water (p0.05).

In coordination with the MNCH component of the GHI strategy, prevention of NTDs will also include the promotion of WASH practices in households, the provision of safe water and construction of sanitation facilities. Since lymphatic filariasis (LF) can be prevented through the use of bednets, efforts in this arena can be more tightly integrated with PMI to emphasize bednet distribution in areas with LF, even if malaria is not highly prevalent.
