The objectives of the study were to determine the effective washing disinfectant (chlorine dioxide and r peracetic acid) in reducing total aerobic counts, E. coli and coliform, and then to test different packaging materials, namely polypropylene (PP), high density polyethylene (HDPE), and low density polyethylene (LDPE), on the quality and shelf-life of Ceylon spinach.

Honeydew melon (Cucumis melo L.) is a highly nutritious fruit, but its climacteric respiration property leads to rapid quality degradation, a short shelf-life, and low marketability. This study aimed to quantify the phenolic contents and the antioxidant capacities of leaf extract powders from three Myrtaceae plants, namely Cleistocalyx operculatus (Vietnamese name: Vối), Psidium guajava (Ổi), and Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Sim), investigate their inhibitive activities on the growth of bacteria isolated from spoiled shrimps, and evaluate their values as preservative agents in the cold storage of Pacific whiteleg shrimps (Penaeus vannamei).

This study focused on the development of a recipe for protein-rich nutrition bars (NB) using dried soybeans, puffed brown rice, and whole black sesame seeds. The NB, rich in protein, was made from abundant agricultural products in Vietnam, including soybeans, brown rice, and whole black sesame seeds, which can be a solution to utilize the available agricultural resources to create a nutritious whole grain cereal product.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the shelf- life of paneer wrapped with oregano essential oil treated starch and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) based edible packaging film. The edible film was prepared by adding starch (5g), carboxymethyl cellulose (15 % W/W starch) in distilled water (100mL) and glycerol (40ml/100g starch). Physicochemical, microbiological and sensory properties at (4±1°C) till spoilage was evaluated for paneer samples.

Sugarcane juice is commonly used as a delicious drink in both urban and rural areas. Sugarcane juice is spoiled quickly due to the presence of simple sugars. Preservation of sugarcane juice was examined to reduce the spoilage and to increase the shelf life by membrane processing. A study was carried out to preserve sugarcane juice by membrane processing and compared with the untreated juice.

The development of fruits without fertilization is known as parthenocarpy. Parthenocarpy improves the fruit quality, processing attributes, production and productivity of vegetable crops like tomato, cucumber, watermelon etc. Absence of seeds can enhances the shelf life of the fruits, allowing a better conservation, fruit set in adverse climatic conditions, early and offseason production of vegetable crops. Therefore, it is important to ensure yield stability regardless of environmental conditions.
