Some linear algebra

Xem 1-17 trên 17 kết quả Some linear algebra
  • This is a book on linear algebra and matrix theory. While it is self contained, it will work best for those who have already had some exposure to linear algebra. It is also assumed that the reader has had calculus. Some optional topics require more analysis than this, however. I think that the subject of linear algebra is likely the most significant topic discussed in undergraduate mathematics courses. Part of the reason for this is its usefulness in unifying so many different topics. Linear algebra is essential in analysis, applied math, and even in theoretical mathematics.

  • Until recently the applications of modern algebra were mainly confined to other branches of mathematics. However, the importance of modern algebra and dis- crete structures to many areas of science and technology is now growing rapidly. It is being used extensively in computing science, physics, chemistry, and data communication as well as in new areas of mathematics such as combinatorics. We believe that the fundamentals of these applications can now be taught at the junior level.

  • This is an introduction to linear algebra. The main part of the book features row operations and everything is done in terms of the row reduced echelon form and specific algorithms. At the end, the more abstract notions of vector spaces and linear transformations on vector spaces are presented. This is intended to be a first course in linear algebra for students who are sophomores or juniors who have had a course in one variable calculus and a reasonable background in college algebra.

  • Algebra is used by virtually all mathematicians, be they analysts, combinatorists, com- puter scientists, geometers, logicians, number theorists, or topologists. Nowadays, ev- eryone agrees that some knowledge of linear algebra, groups, and commutative rings is necessary, and these topics are introduced in undergraduate courses. We continue their study.

  • In this paper we study the dual space of fundamental locally multiplicative topological algebras and prove some results for linear and multiplicative linear functionals on these algebras. An investigation on locally compactness of the carrier space of these algebras is the last part of this note.

  • In this article we generalized some properties of Banach algebras, to a new class of topological algebras namely fundamental and fundamental locally multiplicative topological algebras (abbreviated by F LM ). Also the new notion of sub-multiplicatively metrizable topological algebra is given and some well known spectral properties of Banach algebras are generalized to such kind of algebras.

  • The stability analysis of linear time invariant delay differential- algebraic equations (DDAEs) is analyzed. Examples are delivered to demonstrate that the eigenvalue-based approach to analyze the exponential stability of dynamical systems is not valid for an arbitrarily high index system, and hence, a new concept of weak exponential stability (w.e.s) is proposed. Then, we characterize the w.e.s in term of a spectral condition for some special classes of DDAEs.

  • In this paper, an attempt is made to carry out the comparative study on some mathematical tools for analyze the properties of interleaved sequences used in modern communications, cryptography, watermarking. The comparison begins with the review of the well-known algebraic and combinatorial structure methods for generation and analysis of such sequences.

  • This book is intended to serve as the textbook for a …rst-year graduate course in econometrics. It can be used as a stand-alone text, or be used as a supplement to another text. Students are assumed to have an understanding of multivariate calculus, probability theory, linear algebra, and mathematical statistics. A prior course in undergraduate econometrics would be helpful, but not required. For reference, some of the basic tools of matrix algebra, probability, and statistics are reviewed in the Appendix....

  • AFTER some fourteen years of teaching in American colleges and universities the author finds that the average high school graduate has not developed in himself a mathematical type of reasoning. lie therefore hopes that this treatment may in some measure accomplish this purpose. The first few chapters are devoted to a thorough review of high school algebra, for the author is convinced that most college freshmen need considerable drill on the fundamental processes of algebra before attempting a very extensive study of mathematics....

  • The purpose of this section is to get a geometric understanding of linear estimation . First. we outline how projections are computed in linear algebra for finite dimensional vectors . Functional analysis generalizes this procedure to some infinite-dimensional spaces (so-called Hilbert spaces). and finally. we point out that linear estimation is a special case of an infinite-dimensional space

  • This note deals with two fully parallel methods for solving linear partial differentialalgebraic equations (PDAEs) of the form: Aut + B∆u = f(x, t) where A is a singular, symmetric and nonnegative matrix, while B is a symmetric positive define matrix. The stability and convergence of proposed methods are discussed. Some numerical experiments on high-performance computers are also reported.

  • We show that every smooth toric variety (and many other algebraic spaces as well) can be realized as a moduli space for smooth, projective, polarized varieties. Some of these are not quasi-projective. This contradicts a recent paper (Quasi-projectivity of moduli spaces of polarized varieties, Ann. of Math. 159 (2004) 597–639.). A polarized variety is a pair (X, H) consisting of a smooth projective variety X and a linear equivalence class of ample divisors H on X. For simplicity, we look at the case when X is smooth, numerical and linear equivalence coincide for divisors on X, H is very...
