We have investigated the thermodynamic properties of the cubic zirconia ZrO2 using the statistical moment method in the statistical physics. The free energy, thermal lattice expansion coefficient, specific heats at the constant volume and those at the constant pressure, CV and CP , are derived in closed analytic forms in terms of the power moments of the atomic displacements.

Understanding mechanical properties of healthy and unhealthy cerebral vessels is a key element in the development of their science and the relevant clinical diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Thirteen healthy samples were obtained from 23 middle cerebral arteries. The changes of force and deformation until the vessel rupture were recorded using a biaxial device.

We prove that almost every nonregular real quadratic map is ColletEckmann and has polynomial recurrence of the critical orbit (proving a conjecture by Sinai). It follows that typical quadratic maps have excellent ergodic properties, as exponential decay of correlations (Keller and Nowicki, Young) and stochastic stability in the strong sense (Baladi and Viana). This is an important step in achieving the same results for more general families of unimodal maps.

CONTINUOUS IMAGE MATHEMATICAL CHARACTERIZATION In the design and analysis of image processing systems, it is convenient and often necessary mathematically to characterize the image to be processed. There are two basic mathematical characterizations of interest: deterministic and statistical. In deterministic image representation, a mathematical image function is defined and point properties of the image are considered. For a statistical image representation, the image is specified by average properties.

Network Architectures for Prediction Perspective The architecture, or structure, of a predictor underpins its capacity to represent the dynamic properties of a statistically nonstationary discrete time input signal and hence its ability to predict or forecast some future value. This chapter therefore provides an overview of available structures for the prediction of discrete time signals.
