In recent times, the phase field method is a robust simulation tool that can predict crack formation and propagation in structures. In brittle and quasi-brittle materials, the strain tensor is decomposed into negative and positive parts corresponding to the compression and tension behaviors when the structure is loaded.

In this study, we successfully synthesized a bimetallic metal-organic framework material Zn/Co-ZIF to start Peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for organic dye degradation in the water body. Material characterization was evaluated by advanced methods, such as XRD, FT-IR, SEM, EDX, and BET. The influence of different factors on methylene blue (MB) decomposition rate was investigated.

This paper investigates the effects of economic sanctions (ES) on global banking flows (GBF) using 4,022 pairs of 207 countries during the period 1995-2018. We use a structural gravity model combined with the rich Global Sanction DataBase introduced by Felbermayr et al. (2020, 2021). ES include various forms of sanction, including arms, trade, financial, travel, and other sanctions, whereas GBF reflect cross-border lending. Our empirical results show a negative association between ES and GBF. The heterogeneous effects of ES on GBF depend on the types of sanctions.

This work presents a molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) of CaSiO3 glass using Born–Mayer–Huggins potentials. The structural organization and structural phase transition under compression as well as network structure of CaSiO3 are clarified through analysis and visualization of molecular dynamics simulation data.

To clarify the local environment of atoms, we apply the oxygen simplex (OS) which is characterized by the size, forming oxygen atom types and the number of sodium atoms located inside the OS. The simulation shows that the liquid comprises the Si-O network and sodium atoms are distributed through different OS types forming by four O atoms.

This article is dealing with the study on the heterogeneous graft-reaction of maleic anhydride onto polyethylene. The reaction was carried out on the brabender mixer extruder. The optimal reaction conditions were found as follows, the temperature: 190o C, the reaction time: 6 minutes, the screw speed: 60 r/min., the %weight content of PE, MA and DCP: 80, 1.5 and 0.2, respectively. The success of the reaction was confirmed by the IR-spectroscopy, contact angles measurements and mechanical property testing.

We report here the direct evidence for the formation of alternative DNA structures in a plasmid DNA, termed pTIR10, containing a 0.23-kb pyrimidine/purine-biased (Pyr/Pur) stretch isolated from the rat genome. Long Pyr/Pur sequences are abundant in eukaryotic genomes, and they may modulate the biological activity of genes and genomes via formation of various types of triplex-related structures. The plasmid DNA in sodium acetate buffer (pH 4.35) was deposited on APS-modified mica, and after drying it was imaged with an atomic force microscope in air. ...

The heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) type I, a modulator of alternative splicing, localizes in the nucleoplasm of mammalian cells and in a discrete perinucleolar structure. HnRNP I contains a novel type of bipartite nuclear localization signal (NLS) at the N-terminus of the protein that we have previously named nuclear determinant localization type I (NLD-I). Recently, a neural counterpart of hnRNP I has been identified that contains a putative NLS with two strings of basic amino acids separated by a spacer of 30 residues....

Structural elucidation of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from three nontypeable Haemophilus influenzaeclinical isolates, 1209, 1207 and 1233 was achieved using NMR spectro-scopy and ESI-MS on O-deacylated LPS and core oligo-saccharide (OS) material as well as ESI-MS n on permethylated dephosphorylated OS. It was found that the organisms expressed a tremendous heterogeneous glyco-form mixture resulting from the variable length of the OS chains attached to the common structural element of H.

Therehas longbeenconjectureover thedegree towhichthere may be structural and functional heterogeneity in the tetra-mericserineproteasetryptase(EC 3.4.21.59), amajor mediator of allergic inflammation. We have applied 2D gel electrophoresis to analyze the extent, nature, and variability of thisheterogeneity inlysatesofmast cells isolatedfromlung and skin, and in preparations of purified tryptase. Gels were silver stained, or the proteins transferred to nitrocellulose blots and probed with either tryptase-specific monoclonal antibodies or various lectins. ...

bR, N-like and O-like intermediate states of [ 15 N]methionine-labelled wild type and D85N⁄T170C bacteriorhodopsin were accumulated in native membranes by controlling the pH of the preparations. 15 N cross polariza-tion and magic angle sample spinning (CPMAS) NMR spectroscopy allowed resolution of seven out of nine resonances in the bR-state. It was possible to assign some of the observed resonances by using 13 C⁄ 15 N rota

Fifty-nine amino acid sequences belonging to family 57 (GH-57) of the glycoside hydrolases were collected using the CAZy server, Pfamdatabase andBLASTtools. Owing to the sequence heterogeneity of the GH-57 members, sequence alignments were performed using mainly manual methods. Likewise, five conserved regions were identified, which are postulated to be GH-57 consensus motifs.

The catalytic module ofHypocrea jecorina(previously Trichoderma reesei) Cel7B was homologously expressed by transformation of strain QM9414. Post-translational modi-fications in purified Cel7B preparations were analysed by enzymatic digestions, high performance chromatography, mass spectrometry and site-directed mutagenesis. Of the five potential sites found in the wild-type enzyme, only Asn56 and Asn182 were found to be N-glycosylated.

Patterns of protein interactions are organized around complex heterogene-ous networks. Their architecture has been suggested to be of relevance in understanding the interactome and its functional organization, which per-vades cellular robustness. Transcription factors are particularly relevant in this context, given their central role in gene regulation.

Protein glycation by methylglyoxal is a nonenzymatic post-translational modification whereby arginine and lysine side chains form a chemically heterogeneous group of advanced glycation end-products. Methylglyoxal-derived advanced glycation end-products are involved in pathologies such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases of the amyloid type.
