The paper results showed that the more than ten years mangrove community is a stable forest biome. Mangroves from 10 years old should be planned with different species to increase the diversity in species structure and enhance the ability to stabilize the community and withstand changes in coastal habitats.

Phytoplankton which can affect higher trophic levels play a pivotal role as primary producers. Phytoplankton structure and diversity may, besides other factors, be controlled by the changing of water temperatures. Hence, the present study aimed to determine some relationship between phytoplankton assemblage and water temperature in Ba Lai River, Vietnam.

An understanding of soil microorganisms as part of soil system and interactions between the diversity of producers and of decomposers, have major consequences on the functioning of agricultural ecosystems. Soil microorganisms control the transformation and mineralization of natural compounds and xenobiotics. The soil micro biota, existing in high density and diversity, rapidly modify the energetic performance and activity rates to changing environmental conditions.

Cycads occur in lowland forests and are threatened by their degradation, fragmentation and over-exploitation. Our results indicate that cycad population sizes were very small (less 100 individuals) with high propagules. These increased mating between closely related individuals growing in clumps. The allozyme data show although all studied cycads maintained high levels of genetic diversity, an average of 0.556 (0.491 in C. hoabinhensis to 0.598 in C. chevalieri ), the degree of inbreeding was high.

In this study, the selective oximation of structurally diverse aromatic aldehydes (versus ketones) to the corresponding aldoxime derivatives was investigated using the combination system of NH2OH·HCl and bis-thiourea complexes of cobalt, nickel, copper and zinc chlorides, MII(tu)2Cl2, in a mixture of CH3CN-H2O (1:1).

In this study, a green and practical approach towards Hantzsch dihydropyridine synthesis of acridine-1,8-diones is introduced. Via the mentioned protocol, the one-pot condensation reaction of structurally diverse aromatic aldehydes, dimedone and NH4OAc was promoted by microwave radiation at solvent and catalyst-free conditions.

The analysis is carried out by the hypothesis testing and the event tree method. The probability of detection for diversion of 8 kg Pu is found to be less than 95% if a large size granule consisting of small size particles gets sampled for measurements. To increase the probability of detection more than 95%, first, a new Material Balance Area (MBA) structure consisting of more number of Key Measurement Points (KMPs) is designed.

The human MUC4 gene encodes a large membrane-associated mucin, characterized by a mucin tandem repeat domain and a growth factor-like transmembrane domain. In addition to the originally published sequence (sv0-MUC4), several MUC4 cDNA sequences (called sv1-MUC4 to sv21MUC4, MUC4/X, MUC4/Y) from various tissues and cell lines have been recently described. They differ from sv0MUC4 by deletions and/or insertions located in the 3¢ region or, for two of them, by deletion of the central repetitive domain.

During the development of multicellular organisms, both transient and stable gene expression patterns have to be established in a precisely orchestrated sequence. Evidence from diverse model organisms indicates that this epigenetic program involves not only transcription factors, but also the local structure, composition, and modification of chromatin, which define and maintain the accessibility and transcriptional competence of the nucleosomal DNA template.

Murine double minute 2 (MDM2) protein exhibits many diverse biochemi-cal functions on the tumour suppressor protein p53, including transcrip-tional suppression and E3 ubiquitin ligase activity. However, more recent data have shown that MDM2 can exhibit ATP-dependent molecular chap-erone activity and directly mediate folding of the p53 tetramer. Analysing the ATP-dependent function of MDM2 will provide novel insights into the evolution and function of the protein.

Short-chaindehydrogenases/reductases (SDRs) are enzymes of great functional diversity. Even at sequence identities of typically only 15–30%, specific sequence motifs are detect-able, reflecting common folding patterns. We have devel-oped a functional assignment scheme based on these motifs and we find five families. Two of these families were known previously and are calledclassical andextended families, but they are now distinguished at a further level based on coenzyme specificities.

Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) is an abundant heterotri-meric serine/threonine phosphatase containing highly con-served structural (A) and catalytic (C) subunits. Its diverse functions in the cell are determined by its association with a highly variable regulatory and targeting B subunit. At least three distinct gene families encoding B subunits are known: B/B55/CDC55, B¢/B56/RTS1 and B¢¢/PR72/130. No homologyhasbeen identi®edamong theBfamilies, and little is knownabout howtheseBsubunits interactwith the PP2A A and C subunits....

Understanding peroxidase function in plants is complicated by the lackof substrate specificity, the highnumber of genes, their diversity in structure and our limited knowledge of peroxidase gene transcription and translation. In the present study we sequenced expressed sequence tags (ESTs) enco-ding novel heme-containing class III peroxidases from Arabidopsis thalianaand annotated 73 full-length genes identified in the genome.

Plant lipoxygenases (LOXs) are a class of dioxygenases which display diverse functions in several physiological processes such as growth, development and response to biotic and abiotic stresses.Even though LOXs have been characterized from several plant species, the physiological role of seed LOXs is still unclear. With the aim to better clarify the occurrence of LOXs and their influence on hazelnut seed quality, we carried out the biochemical and molecular characterization of the main LOX isoforms expressed during seed development....

Acomprehensive, structural and functional, insilicoanalysis of the medium-chain dehydrogenase/reductase (MDR) superfamily, including 583 proteins, was carried out by use of extensive database mining and theBLASTPprogram in an iterative manner to identify all known members of the superfamily. Based on phylogenetic, sequence, and func-tional similarities, the protein members of the MDR super-family were classified into three different taxonomic categories: (a) subfamilies, consisting of a closed group containing a set of ideally orthologous proteins that perform the same function;...
