90Y PET/CT imaging is performed after radioembolization to re-evaluate the resin microsphere distribution and estimate the absorbed radiation dose of target tumor. The purpose of our study is to validate the utility of 90Y PET/CT compared to SPECT/CT simulation in dosimetry and prediction of treatment response.

Photoelasticity images of pulsed laser ablation in water and in air were simulated by Finite Element Method. In the paper "Compare transient stress induced in in-air and in-water laser ablation using simulation method", the Von Mises stress distribution in the target is deduced from the simulated images and is compared between the two-ablation regimes. The result confirms that pulse laser ablation in the water can induced a stress about 100 times higher than that induced in ablation in the air.

In an effort to explore the role of glycine clusters on the cold adaptation of enzymes, we designed point mutations aiming to alter the distribution of glycine residues close to the active site of the psychrophilic alkaline phosphatase from the Antarctic strain TAB5. The mutagenesis targets were residues Gly261 and Gly262. The replacement of Gly262 by Ala resulted in an inactive enzyme. Substitution of Gly261 by Ala resulted to an enzyme with lower stability and increased energy of activation.

Group I introns are thought to be self-propagating mobile elements, and are distributed over a wide range of organisms through horizontal trans-mission. Intron invasion is initiated through cleavage of a target DNA by a homing endonuclease encoded in an open reading frame (ORF) found within the intron. The intron is likely of no benefit to the host cell and is not maintained over time, leading to the accumulation of mutations after intron invasion.

Stimulation of glycogen-targeted protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) activity by insulin contributes to the dephosphorylation and activation of hepatic gly-cogen synthase (GS) leading to an increase in glycogen synthesis. The gly-cogen-targeting subunits of PP1, GLand R5⁄PTG, are downregulated in the livers of diabetic rodents and restored by insulin treatment. We show here that the mammalian genePPP1R3Eencodes a novel glycogen-target-ing subunit of PP1 that is expressed in rodent liver.

K-Ras is a small G-protein, localized mainly at the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane. The membrane targeting signal of this protein consists of a polybasic C-terminal sequence of six contiguous lysines and a farnesyl-ated cysteine. Results from biophysical studies in model systems suggest that hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions are responsible for the membrane binding properties of K-Ras.
