In this paper, a thin stearic acid (SA) film was deposited onto the polyurethane (PU) coatings with different concentrations of stearic acid in the ethanol (1 wt.%, 2 wt.% and 3 wt.%) by centrifuged technique. Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and water contact angle (WCA) method were performed to characterize and evaluate the hydrophobic layer formed on the surface of the samples.

The proportional relationship between the infrared (IR) transmittance of a transparent material and its IR-induced heat transfer can be explained via a simple model. An agreement between the theory and the experimental work was examined by measuring the temperature rising inside a heat-insulated box with glass windows under IR irradiation, where the material of the glass windows was modified from corning glass (CG) to 9 at% Nb-doped TiO2 (TNO) fabricated by sputtering deposition.

CuAlS2 thin films were deposited by a dip coating technique at room temperature. The X-ray energy dispersive (EDAX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the deposited CuAlS2 thin film is nearly stoichiometric and possesses a tetragonal unit cell structure.

In this paper, we present an experimental study on electroless nickel plating for applications in microbolometers. The study starts from an optimization of the electroless plating bath for depositing nickel on aluminum surface and ends up at the controlled growth of nickel micropillars on selected areas with the masking layer patterned by a conventional optical lithography process.

Cadmium selenide (CdSe) thin films have been deposited on indium tin oxide coated glass substrate by simple electrodeposition method. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) studies identify that the as-deposited CdSe films are highly oriented to [002] direction and they belong to nanocrystalline hexagonal phase.

Keterite Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films were fabricated by spray pyrolysis deposition using aqueous precursor solutions with and without the addition of HCl. The effects of HCl on the crystallinity, morphology and photovoltaic properties of CZTS thin films were investigated. The results showed that the presence of HCl had significant effects on the crystal growth, grain size, and surface morphology of the fabricated CZTS thin films resulting in the improvement of the photovoltaic properties of the solar cell.

The thin films of SnO2 and Zn-doped SnO2 were deposited on glass wafer substrate by a compression sprayer system using SnCl2.2H2O and Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O as precursors. The influence of the deposition temperature and Zn-doped contents on SnO2 and Zn-doped SnO2 crystal phase were investigated by XRD, respectively.

Lecture ECE 6450 Microelectronic - Chapter 13: Thin film deposition and epitaxy (Chemical vapor deposition, metal organic CVD and molecular beam epitaxy). After studying this section will help you understand chemical gas sources are thermally, optically, or electrically (plasma) reacted with a surface to “leave” behind deposits with reaction byproducts pumped out of the reaction tube or vacuum chamber.

The copper(II) complex of N -[ethyl(butyl)carbamothioyl]-3,5-dinitrobenzamide (1) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-mass spectrometry. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that complex 2 decomposes in 2 steps to form copper sulfide. The complex was used as a single-source precursor for the deposition of copper sulfide thin film by aerosol-assisted chemical vapor deposition at 350◦C.

The as-deposited thin films were characterized by powdered X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Thin films of CdS deposited at low temperature (350◦C) consist of densely packed granular crystallites with an average size of ca. 150 nm, while at higher temperatures (400 and 450◦C) particles with varying sizes and mixed morphologies are observed. The ZnS thin films deposited at 400◦C showed rod-like structures, whereas dense globular-like structures were obtained at 450◦C.
