  • In this study, Lythrum salicaria plant was tested in hydroponic culture to demonstrate its zinc accumulating capacity and tolerance to different zinc levels. Lythrum salicaria seedlings were grown in 10% Hoagland solution containing 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100 mg/L zinc, and 30 mg/L zinc with different pH levels (5, 6, and 7). Following this, the seedlings were harvested after 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th days. Zinc caused significant decreases in the relative values of the mean root-shoot length and fresh weight of the plant (92 to 75%; 100 to 92%; 64.2 to 41.

  • In this study, two indigenous Chlorella strains were evaluated for triacylglycerol (TAG) production and related parameters during 10 days of N-deprivation. The strains were identified based on morphological characteristics and genomic information, named as Chlorella sp. IMU12 and Chlorella sp. IMU17. Time-dependent reduction of growth was accompanied by decreased chlorophyll content, reduced oxygen evolution ratio, and elevated carotenoid content of both strains cultivated in N-free Bold’s basal medium.

  • Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is important commercial fruits of India. It is liked by people due to its high palatability, excellent taste and exemplary nutritive value. Mango pulp is rich is carbohydrates, minerals, vitamin C, starch, pectin, carotenoids, but lacks in protein, fat and some essential amino acids. But pulses are good sources of important dietary nutrients, proteins, minerals and vitamins. The present study was carried out to develop soy flour incorporated mango bars from two mango varieties namely Neelum and Totapuri (Bangalora) with pretreated soy flour.

  • An experiment was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design with an aim to investigate the effect of short term waterlogging on four popular Khariftomato cultivars of Odisha (Utkal Pallavi, Utkal Dipti, Utkal Kumari and Utkal Pragyan). 45 days old tomato plants were subjected to 15 cm of stagnant water for a period of 0,1,2 and 3 days. High survivability under 1 and 2 days of waterlogging were recorded in U.Kumari of about 80%and 60% respectively because of high adventitious root formation, whereas all the plants died under 3 days of waterlogging due to root hypoxia.
