The effect of machining parameters on the surface roughness in dry-turning Ti6Al4V alloy using an experimental design method was investigated. A mathematical equation based on the response surface methodology was established to fully understand the influence of machining parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut) on the surface roughness.

This research is aimed at identifying and examining house price determinants at a local level to understand why house prices vary across different locations and the factors influencing such price differentiation. This research has adopted explanatory mixed research methods (QUAN -> QUAL) where quantitative analysis is used in the first stage to examine the Melbourne housing market and its performance at different levels. The research found there were certain periods where local house prices do not perform in line with either country, city or other local housing markets.

Understanding mechanical properties of healthy and unhealthy cerebral vessels is a key element in the development of their science and the relevant clinical diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Thirteen healthy samples were obtained from 23 middle cerebral arteries. The changes of force and deformation until the vessel rupture were recorded using a biaxial device.

By the end of grade four, students understand large numbers and addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers. They describe and compare simple fractions and decimals. They understand the properties of, and the relationships between, plane geometric figures. They collect, represent, and analyze data to answer questions.

Metal forming to make large parts, take large reductions, use high strength materials, work to net shape (precision flashless closed die forging), and use cold forming to obtain certain physical properties all require high forming forces. These forces may be larger than the capacity of existing machinery.

Like paper-based signatures, digital signatures intend to respect a number of security assumptions. Methods of digital signature apposed by a single user have been defined and are widely used. But is it sufficient? What if a legal document requires witnesses and notarization, or a contract needs the signatures of several officers? This paper will first show the basics to understand digital signatures and how the a security properties of integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation are respected.

ThenblAfamily of genes encodes for small proteins neces-sary for the ordered degradation of phycobilisomes under certain stress conditions, a process known as chlorosis. Genes homologous tonblAseem to occur in all phycobili-some-containingorganisms.However, todate, nomolecular mechanism is known for the action of NblA, nor have the gene products been characterized to understand the physical properties of the molecule and thus help elucidate the mechanism on a structural basis.

Cytochrome P450BM3is a self-sufficient fatty acid mono-oxygenase consisting of a diflavin (FAD/FMN) reductase domain and a heme domain fused together in a single polypeptide chain. The multidomain structure makes it an ideal model system for studying the mechanism of electron transfer and for understanding P450 systems in general. Here we report the redox properties of the cyto-chrome P450BM3 wild-type holoenzyme, and its isolated FADreductase andP450 heme domains, when immobilized in a didodecyldimethylammonium bromide film cast on an edge-plane graphite electrode....

Humanpancreatic secretions contain twomajor trypsinogen isoforms, cationic and anionic trypsinogen, normally at a ratio of 2 : 1. Pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and chronic alcoholism lead to a characteristic reversal of the isoform ratio, and anionic trypsinogen becomes the predominant zymogen secreted. To understand the biochemical conse-quences of these alterations, we recombinantly expressed and purified both human trypsinogens and documented characteristics of autoactivation, autocatalytic degradation and Ca 2+ -dependence....

Several transcription factors with the function of setting the biological clock in vertebrates have been described. A detailed understanding of their nucleocytolasmic transport properties may uncover novel aspects of the regulation of the circadian rhythm. This assumption led us to perform a systematic analysis of the nuclear import characteristics of the different murine PER and CRY proteins, usingXenopusoocytes and HeLa cells as experimental systems.

Mutations in the proteina-tropomyosin (Tm) can cause a disease known as familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In order to understand how such mutations lead to protein dysfunction, three point mutations were introduced into cDNA encoding the human skeletal tropomyosin, and the recombinant Tms were produced at high levels in the yeast Pichia pastoris. Two mutations (A63V and K70T) were located in theN-terminal regionofTmandone (E180G)was located close to the calcium-dependent troponin T binding domain....

Deficiency of the small mitochondrial protein frataxin causes Friedreich’s ataxia, a severe neurodegenerative pathology. Frataxin, which has been highly conserved throughout evolution, is thought to be involved in, among other processes, Fe–S cluster formation. Independent evidence shows that it binds iron directly, although with very distinct features and low affinity.
