There is a shortage of research evidence about how social isolation, social participation, and loneliness were longitudinally associated with frailty. This study was to 1) examine the associations of social isolation, social participation, and loneliness with level of frailty among community-dwelling older adults using panel data, and 2) explore the moderating effect of gender on the association of social isolation, social participation and loneliness with frailty.

This study investigated whether daily physical activity of older adults, combined with social relationships, is associated with the risk of sleep disorder. Further, it determined whether a high level of one variable with a low level of the other, leads to a significantly lower risk of sleep disorder than low levels of both.

Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiologic agent of Chagas disease, is currently divided into six discrete typing units (DTUs), named TcI-TcVI. TcII is among the major DTUs enrolled in human infections in South America southern cone, where it is associated with severe cardiac and digestive symptoms. Despite the importance of TcII in Chagas disease epidemiology and pathology, so far, no genome-wide comparisons of the mitochondrial and nuclear genomes of TcII field isolates have been performed to track the variability and evolution of this DTU in endemic regions.

Rice (Oryza sativa) occupies a prime position in the family Poaceae and it is the highly consumable crop of almost half of the world's population. Among the various diseases affecting rice, blast incited by Magnaporthe oryzae is the one of the ubiquitous and economically important disease which affects almost all the stages of crop and cause yield loss upto 50%. In the present study, survey was carried out in Nilgiri and Madurai districts of Tamil Nadu for the collection of blast isolates. The blast disease incidence ranged from 8.8 to 42.4 per cent in various rice cultivars.

The typical symptoms of the disease are yellowing of lower leaves, drooping, and wilting of plant. Sreedevi et al., (2009) reported that the presence of cultural and morphological variability among the Fusarium solani isolated from different areas of Karnataka state, India. In the present studies isolates of F. solani (Mart.) Sacc. collected from four districts of Assam were studied for the presence of cultural and morphological variations among these isolates.

The modern intensive Agricultural practices have considerably raised the output but created problems like land and environmental degradation and pollution. Besides, this contamination of food products and pesticidal residue in food has caused much panic among the consumers and also the producers. Hence, it is necessary to find out innovative and suitable alternative technology like biological control of pests and diseases.

Papaya is prone to many diseases incited by fungi, bacteria, nematodes and viruses leading to enormous loss in yield. Among all, papaya anthracnose incited by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Penz. & Sacc. appear to be more severe causing substantial losses to papaya fruits during transit and storage. Papaya anthracnose is the most important disease throughout the year in India and it became a major limiting factor in papaya cultivation.

A flow cytometric protocol amenable to the crop was standardized by comparing four buffer compositions, three sample sizes and four incubation periods for isolated nuclei using Pisium sativum cv. Citrad (2C=9.09pg) as an internal reference standard. The study revealed significant differences for 2C DNA content among the accessions ranging from 5.73pg to 6.25pg, with 8.79% difference. The mean 2C DNA content of tall accessions has6.07pg/2C and 5.89pg/2C in dwarfs, corresponding to 1C genome size of 2968.23 Mb and 2880.21Mb, respectively.

Maize Post flowering stalk rot causing caused by Fusarium verticillioides is major disease and causing yield loss up to 34 per cent. Different liquid media supporting the growth of the different isolates of fungus was observed. Among the eight-liquid media tested for the dry mycelial weight and sporulation of six isolates of Fusarium stalk rot pathogen (F. verticillioides), Isolate FV-3 yielded highest dry mycelial weight of 787.66mg, followed by FV-2 (647.66mg), FV1(581.00mg), FV-5 (451.00mg), FV-6(421.00mg) and FV7(277.66mg) in Takahashii’s broth.

Collar rot of chilli caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. is currently occurring in chilli growing areas of Marathwada region in India. The genetic diversity among eight chilli S. rolfsii isolates collected from eight districts covering various geographic areas of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state were analysed using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) using five random primers. Size of DNA fragments amplified by the five primers ranged from 0.1 Kb to 10 Kb indicating polymorphism among S. rolfsii isolates. RAPD banding profiles with five different random primers viz.

The present study was taken up in the Agricultural College, Bapatla during 2016-2017. Cercospora infected leaves were collected during kharif 2016 from eight different okra growing villages in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh which were used for in planta isolation of fungal DNA and amplified using universal primers ITS 1 and ITS 4. The 550 bp amplicon thus obtained was restricted with hexa cutters, EcoRI, BamHI and tetra cutter Taq1 to find variability among Cercospora isolates.

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri chickpea wilt, PCR, ITS Eight variants of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri were isolated from wilt infected chickpea plants from diverse locations of northern Karnataka. Genetic variability was studied by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification with specific primer and genetic identity among each variant was calculated and results depicted that there was minimum genetic variation among the variants collected from the diverse locations. At 0.01 similarity coefficient the variants separated into two clusters. Cluster A contained six variants viz.

Morphological and pathogenic variability of 48 isolates of R. solani from 5 different districts of Uttar Pradesh were studied. Majority of the isolates produced pale brown mycelium with fluffy growth and were categorized into 3 groups on the basis of their growth rate including 11 fast growing, 25 moderately growing and 12 slow growing isolates of R. solani.
