C-lectin family 14 Member A (Clec14a) is a transmembrane protein specifically expressed in vascular endothelial cells during embryogenesis. Previous in vitro and in vivo studies have provided conflicting data regarding Clec14a role in promoting or inhibiting angiogenesis, therefore its functional role in vascular development remains poorly understood.

In clinical practice left ventricular (LV) function is commonly evaluated by 2-D and M-mode echocardiography. These modalities have significant limitations,and tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) has been introduced as a quantitative and more objective method for assessing myocardial function. The TDI modalities include myocardial velocity imaging,displacement imaging,strain rate imaging, and strain imaging (Fig. 1).

Angiogenesis is the development of new blood vessels from an existing vascular bed. Normal vascular proliferation occurs only during embryonic development, the female reproductive cycle, and wound repair. Many pathological conditions are characterized by persistent, unregulated angiogenesis, such as cancer, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetic neuropathy. Conversely, inadequate angiogenesis can often lead to chronic pressure ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and myocardial infarction.

The aim of the study was to analyse prostate cancer mortality and incidence among ethnic German migrants who came to Germany from the FSU after 1990. Additionally, we highlighted some general aspects of the Aussiedler's health profile to place prostate cancer incidence and mortality into a broader context. We analyzed two cohorts of migrants in terms of all cause mortality, overall cancer and prostate cancer mortality and incidence including longitudinal and age effects.
