UNIT 13: THE 22nd SEA GAMES B: SPEAKING I. AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON 1. Language focus: - To develop their speaking skills reporting sports results - To provide students with some new more words and phrases. 2. Skills: To help Ss develop their speaking skills 3. Attitudes: To encourage Ss work in pairs and groups II. PREPARATION 1. Teacher: - Teaching aids: - Lesson plan, text book - Teaching method: Communicative language teaching 2. Students: - Read Unit 9 – speaking at home III. PROCEDURE 1. Class organization (1 minute) 2. Check – up (5 minutes) - Some students read and write down new words and phrases - Some students translate the reading passage into Vietnamese 3. New lesson (35 minutes) STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1. Task 1 Task 1 - Work in pairs, find out the name of the sports + football/soccer + tennis + - Asks some pairs of Ss to present swimming + cycling + volley ball + athletics + Which sports do you like? + I like swimming + Why? It’s interesting; It has a lot of fun It helps me to relax/ keep fit/ develop my strength It’s good for our health; It’s easy to play 2. Task 2 Task 2 - Work in groups, talk about some records at the 22 SEA nd Games - Calls some groups of Ss to present + Good evening ladies and gentlemen their report + We are from “Sports report” program + Welcome to our program tonight + We are going to report some records at the 22nd SEA Games + Let’s start with ... in ... + He made a new SEA Games record in ... + A new record was made in ... 3. Task 3 Task 3 - Work in groups, talk about the results in volley ball and football at the 22nd SEA Games + Good evening ladies and gentlemen - Asks some groups of Ss to present + We are from “Sports report” program + Welcome to our program tonight + We are going to report some results in football and volleyball at the 22nd SEA Games
4. Consolidation (3 minutes) - Report some sports results 5. Homework (1 minute) - Report some sports results
