Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to Listen to one's daily activities for general or specific information. II. Language contents and skills Grammar: present simple tense. Vocabulary: District, routine, pedal, purchase, passenger, food stall, cyclo, office. Skills: o Listening and numbering pictures. o Listening and deciding on True or False statements. III. Teaching aids: Student's book, pictures showing a cyclo driver's activities, tape and cassette player. IV. Procedure:
- Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Warmup: ( 5 minutes) Memory games:
- Listen to the teacher. Work in groups. Try to remember all of the activities in the picture. Choose a teammate , help the teammate without going to the board or seeing the picture . Divides class into 4 groups, gives each group a picture. Lets each group choose a student who can remember all of this activities. Asks Ss to remember and go to the board write down the activities in 50s. Listen to the teacher and open Checks some students and mark. textbooks. Chooses the team has the highest mark is winner Look at the books. Gives Ss a statement. Work in pairs. We will go to Unit 1 part C listening to know more detail about a cyclo driver’s daily activities. Prelistening: ( 8 minutes)
- Lets them work in pairs Let Ss ask and make the following questions. o Have you ever travelled by cyclo? o When was it? o Is it interesting to travel by cyclo? o Which do you prefer, going by bicycle or cyclo? Give reasons? Example: Repeat loudly the words and try to remember them. A: Have you ever travelled by cyclo? B: Yes, I have A:When was it? B: Last month. Walks round, listen and help students. Vocabulary Listen and repeat Routine(n) Occupation(n) Passenger(n) Listen to the teacher. Pedal(v) Answer the question. Purchase(n) Food stall(n) District(n) Asks students to repeat loudly the words. Listens and check pronunciation. Grammar
- Review simple present tense Gives Ss a question . What do you usually do afterschool ? Asks other student What does she usually do afterschool ? Asks Ss the tense that they use in their answer. Asks Ss to do somes exercise and use simple present tense. Example : I usually play football afterschool. Nam usually plays football afterschool . Give Ss handout and explain how to do exercise. 1. The flight (start)……….at 6 a.m every Thursday. 2. I like Math and she (like)……….Literature. 3. I (bake)________ cookies twice a month. Look at the pictures in task 1. 4. My best friend (write)________ to me every week. 5. Jane always ________(take care) of her sister. 6. My family (not have)……….a holiday in December every year. 7.Martha and Kevin ___________ (swim) twice a week. Key: starts; likes; bake; writes; takes care; doesn’t have; swim. While listening:( 20 minutes) Task 1 : Students will hear Mr. Lam, a cyclo driver, talk about his morning activities. Listen to his talk and number the pictures in their correct other.
- Asks Ss look at the pictures in task 1 Describe the pictures by answering the questions Listen to the tape script and number Lets them describe the pictures by asking questions: the pictures. Who is Mr. Lam – the lady or the man? what does he do ? What is he doing? How many people are there ? Who are they ? Lets Ss listen to the tape 3 times. Decide whether the statements are true (T) or false (F). Listen to the tape script again and Asks Ss get the key words. decide the statements that are T or F then explain them. Lets Ss and underline the key words in each statement. Key words: district 1, get up early, district 5 to district 1, first, two pupils, has lunch , home, immediately, after lunch, etc. Lets Ss listen tape 2 times. First: Word in pair o Lets them listen to, get specific information, and find out the correct answers. o Lets Ss compare their answers with their partner. Second: o Checks the answer. o Calls some Ss to explain their choices. o Gives the correct answers. Key: 1.F 2.T 3.F 4.F 5.F 6.F Postlistening: (10 minutes) Work in pair. Take turns to ask and answer questions about Mr. Lam’s activities, using the cues below. Then

My first passenger is usually an old man. I take him from District 5 to District 1. After I drop him at a cafe near Ho Chi Minh Teachers' Training College. I pedal to Thai Binh Market. My next passenger is a lady who does shopping there every two days. I help her put all her purchases into the cyclo and then take her to her shop in Tran Hung Dao Street. At about ten thirty, I ride off toward Nguyen Thi Minh Khai School. There I park my cyclo, chat with some of my fellows and wait for my third passengers. They are two school pupils, a girl and a boy. I take them home. At twelve, I have lunch at a food stall near Ben Thanh Market. After lunch, I park my cyclo under a tree, take a short rest and then continue my afternoon's work.
