The paper reflects upon the seeming organizational silence within the maritime industry concerning women as minority organizational members. The research suggests the necessity of leader/captain acknowledgement of organizational cultural issues emphasizing gender. Such an acknowledgement could be looked upon as positive means of recruiting and retaining women as ship operational personnel.
