Drying shrinkage is the main cause of early age cracking of concrete and mortar. A wide range of research has been conducted to reduce the drying shrinkage, including using fibres or chemical admixtures. This paper investigated the effect of shrinkage reducing admixture on the flexural strength, compressive strength, drying shrinkage, water absorption and porosity of mortar.

The study "Studies on film forming corrosion inhibitors on aluminium alloy, AA2024-T3" presents key aspects of the film forming behaviour of the selected inhibitors and the test methods used to evaluate the inhibitor induced films in a chloride solution. This study also aims to provide significant insights to the film tenacity, the influence of the molecular structure as well as the film stability in the absence of inhibitors to provide a deeper understanding of the film forming and film breakdown mechanisms.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the technological feasibility of biological filtration process for Mn control in Lorne WTP. This thesis consists of eight chapters. Project background and research objectives are described in Chapter 1. Chapter 2 presents an extensive literature review covering the nature of manganese, manganese analytical methods, manganese control methods, the nature of MOB and biological control of Mn in drinking water treatment. This paper demonstrates that for a CNN it is vice-versa, in which concatenation is better for CDR classification. To this end, we develop a CNN based model with multiple input concatenated for CDR classification. Experimental results on the benchmark dataset demonstrate its outperformance over other recent state-of-the-art CDR classification models.

This work presents a new technique for discriminating between alpha particles of different energy levels. In a first study, two groups of alpha particles emitted from radium-226 and americium-241 sources were successfully separated using a CR-39 microfilm of appropriate thickness. This thickness was adjusted by chemical etching before and after irradiation so that lower-energy particles were stopped within the detector, while higher-energy particles were revealed on the back side of the detector.

The reactions form chains and rings of alumino-silicate networks in geopolymeric structures. The raw materials used for geopolymerization normally contain high SiO2 and Al2O3 in the chemical compositions such as meta-kaoline, rice husk ash, fly ash, bottom ash, blast furnace slag, red mud, and others. The geopolymer-based material has potentials to replace Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)-based materials in the future because of its lower energy consumption, minimal CO2 emissions and lower production cost as it utilizes industrial waste resources.
