The objective of my research is to develop a body of work for exhibition based on an examination of the ways that corporate space, as exemplified by the foyers and conference rooms of contemporary corporate offices, reflect societal anxieties about wealth and power. These works will draw on the history of painting, with particular reference to 17th century Dutch still life painting, as a framework within which to conduct the exploration of contemporary space.

This thesis investigated the major factors contributing to marketing success, as measured by average annual Return on Shareholders Funds, within the Australian corporate finance market, during the period 1983 to 1987. The study's findings are based on the analysis of the responses to a detailed mail questionnaire, and several follow-up in-depth interviews. The questionnaire was mailed to nearly five hundred of the most senior executives working in the corporate finance market in late 1987.

This study reveals the significant influence of supplier-countries’ contexts on CoC compliance in terms of labour rights protections. By doing so, it expands the scope of debate by highlighting the importance of local context to the implementation of MNCs’ CoCs in supplier-countries. Furthermore, the findings make important contributions to current understandings of the labour rights environment of MNCs in China.

This research sought to uncover the circumstances in which stakeholder interaction around the various perspectives on problem gambling might lead to a socially responsible approach to the management of poker machine gambling in clubs. The study’s methodology adapted a learning history framework of participative action research, and recruited stakeholders to act as “co-researchers” in a transparent-research approach to the exploration of the research question.

The research "Social and environmental reporting practices of the gambling industry: an Australian perspective" explores the corporate social and environmental disclosure (CSD) practices of Australian gambling companies to understand what information is reported in CSDs, and why. The aim of this study is to investigate the nature, extent and determinants of risk information disclosed, using the context of corporate reporting in Malaysia. Key management personnel and controlling shareholders are chosen as the two types of players expected to influence corporate risk disclosure decisions. In terms of key management personnel, this study draws on upper echelons theory to develop hypotheses about the effects of demographic and other background influences of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chair of Audit Committee (CAC) on corporate risk disclosure.

Following this introductory chapter, Chapter 2 provides a summary of literature relating to OHS accountability and examines issues relating to OHS performance management. The renewed interest in executive remuneration, particularly CEO remuneration, in light of the recent global financial crisis (GFC) leads to the question: Is CEO remuneration excessive or can it be justified on grounds of the established reputation of individual CEOs, the performance of the company, the quality of the internal governance structures and the ability of shareholders to have an influence? This question provides the impetus for this study. To answer this question, an understanding of the multiple drivers of executive remuneration is required.

This thesis is organized as a historical study which aims to investigate the development of the accounting profession in Thailand between 1948 and 2010. It includes critical views from relevant people in the profession. The thesis emphasizes the development of the accounting profession in the private sector (corporate sector) (such as listed companies, accounting associations, and the stock exchange) where the accounting profession has played a significant role in the development of the Thai economy.
