The research focuses on applying deep learning to automate the fruit recognition and classification process, meeting the development needs of modern agriculture. Applying this technology helps improve efficiency and classification quality and reduces labor costs, resulting in lower product prices. The research team used two deep learning models, SSD300 and YOLOv10s, to recognize and classify six types of fruits: apples, bananas, kiwis, lemons, oranges, and strawberries.

This study aimed to extract cellulose fibers from coffee grounds using a non-toxic and cost-efficient alkaline hydrogen peroxide extraction method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis results indicated that, after being dried, the cellulose fibers tended to aggregate into bundles, with no individual fibers observed.

This work demonstrated the potential of US for mitigating membrane fouling. However, the integration of the US transducers within the membrane system will be a major challenge for the application of US in membrane cleaning. It is more appropriate that US is used as pre-treatment to the membrane system, the transducers can be placed prior to the coagulant feed line. Further work on the determination of the detailed mechanisms associated with enhancing coagulation would enable optimisation of the system with regard to process, cost and energy efficiency.

The design proposed in this thesis aims to reduce the distortion in Class-D Amplifier output at the cost of increased complexity in the implementation. The thesis is focussed on the DSP components of the unique design. State-ofthe-art FPGAs have been used as the implementation platform for these systems due to advantages such as abundant logic resources, ease of programming and re-configurability.
